Default My new 800 ft lb Cummins-wow

I ordered a 2011 3500 about 6 weeks ago, pimped out Mega cab 4w, it came in this week and there was a
sticker on the tailgate that said, " High Output ", the salesman told me it was the 1st 800 ft lber they had seen. I said 800 ft lb, what the heck, sounds good to me.
I have had a 7.3 Power Stroke, just traded a 06 Duramax, but this new Cummins is in it's own class.

Wife and I took it for a 300 mile break in run today and it averaged 16.5 mpg in South Texas 107F heat, the hottest day I have seen in many a year.
The AC operated great!

Did you drive a 650 before hand or just the experience with the PS or D-Max? I am curious what the diff would be from the 650 to 800. I would never experience the 800 as I like the Manual Tranny. Maybe in a year or two someone will have that tune aftermarket.
Happy Motoring!

I did not drive the 2011 Duramax or the 2011 Ford, I did test drive a 2011 Cummins , it was not the 800 ft lb, that being said, I did notice the power increase in the 800. Like I said, Dodge surprised me with the newest engine, I did not order it and it is the 1st one the dealer has seen.
My old 2006 Duramax was a great truck with great power, but nothing like this new Cummins, of course the Dmax got 19 mpgs which I will miss.

The MPG takes a while to go up (And not much) because these things are tight and why they're so quiet. By the time you hit 100,000 miles they sound just like all the other diesels.
