Does anyone know if this is true of the 2011s?

The ex brake works off the turbo, if your running empty, I would suspect your creating more work for the turbo, if your not desending hills, or needing engine braking on icey roads, I don't see the point in using it.

Default mielage and Check engine lite

just getting back to Minnesota visiting my son in Durango Colorado. My 07 was bought used in Texas with 62K miles. Once purchased I was informed that the Turbo and DPF had been replaced. So I had the dealer in MN flash the computer and no problems. The batteries needed to be replaced and when that was done the check emission lite came on. Was able to reset it and no problem. so when I was heading to Colorado, I went thru Rocky Moutain Nat Park with a 2900lb camper on the back and a 1100lb trailer the Jake brake worked great and I was avw=eraging about 13 mpg going up the hill. When I got to the summit the check engine lite came on. So I kept driving and the lite stayed lit. Well now I'm in Aderdeen So Dak and the lite just went out on its own. Go figure. Any way I love the manual 6 speed and the power this thing has. I still own a 1995 V-10 and it has great power also, but not like this truck.

It is a good idea at least on a frequent basis to run the EB. This will force the Variable Geometry Blades in the turbo to cycle its full movement and help keep carbon from building up at causing the blades to stick. If they stick, then the turbo needs to be cleaned or replaced. I have 134,000 miles and still on original turbo and never had it cleaned. I run the EB almost daily at least on part of the driving. The only extra work on the turbo is when the EB is working during slow down, and its designed for this.

23-24 mpg hand calculated in Amarican mpg. But it's chipped I never had dpf issues but I had lots of egr and egr cooler plugging problems. I put the programmer in at 100000 km and now at 243000 km. runs great.
