Default Just bought a 6.7 and have some ?'s about the delete?

I just bought me a 07 ram 3500 4x4 6.7 cummins from a dealer. It is rougher shape than I wanted but with a little tlc it will be exactly what I wanted.

Problem 1: The previous owner took off the tube on the egr loops around on front side of engine, still have that, and unbolted some pc on the driver side but left it plugged into I guess a sensor. He ran a 5" pipe from turbo down and dumped it under the cab and stuffed all the sensor harness into the frame rail. Of course the check engine light is on. I know I need to buy a egr block off kit and do that the right way. I believe I read somewhere about a bung kit? For all the dpf sensors. My main concern is what tuner to buy? I read on smarty that you must install tuner before undoing all of the dpf and egr sensors? Is there a tuner that I can put on and work now all of that crap is missing? And am I on the right track here?

Problem 2: DEATH WOBBLE!! I read upon this looks like possibly there was a recall on this. I looked at everything under neath everything looks ok and it feels tight. Only think that I saw was the shock absorber I could turn a little bit. Also truck has a 4" fabtech lift too.

And since Im new to the 6.7 any ideas and knowledge are greatly appreciated...

Ok first off, welcome! Now down to business lol, first off my friend get yourself a tuner, either a smarty, smarty junior, or black maxx makes a good tuner as well. I am guessing that the previous owner put the ECM back to stock, and your getting codes all over the place. Next if your really wanting to do the delete then get a delete kit for the EGR. Follow this link http://alligatorperformanceblog.com/...elete-install/ for some really good step by step instructions on how to do it. They also make a delete kit to buy. My next question is explain the exhaust to me a little more in detail. Is it just a turbo back straight pipe? no filters or Nox filter? what about a muffler?
To answer you question about the Smarty tuner, I have one myself. Speaking from experiance you should get everything together and then do the delete. Smarty and black max both do the samething as far as the delete software. I am not sure where your from but you want to check out what your smog check situation is in your area county state.

Just a straight pipe from turbo to tip dumped under cab, no filter, cat, muffler. I plan on buying all the correct delete kits and tuner, just trying to figure out A: whats the best route and B: what tuner will work for me. Because I am missing all the exhaust crap, the egr stuff looks like I can hook it back up if need to program.

you don't need to have everything hooked up to program it. You have to take everything off then do the delete with the tuner. If you get teh smarty make sure you get the 6.7ME version. Not sure about black maxx. When you pulg in the smarty the new software just does it, I have the junior and there are 5 settings: 1.stock 2. standard 3. fuel economy =40hp 4. towing =70hp 5. Performance =100hp. I am pretty sure the regular smarty has higher hp settings. Black maxx as well. I went the smarty because was more economical. I am not looking for huge gains my big thing is making my engine last longer ie. run better less often oil changes as well. and get better fuel mileage. I would also recommend a cold air intake.

Thanks, I am actually looking at the jr too, thought I seen it somewhere saying it had to be installed before unplugging sensors but now I cant find it. CAI is on my to do list after this front end is fixed. What about the sensors for the exhaust?

Welcome! You can take care of your dpf delete problems with either the Smarty or HS tuners. I have a HS XRT Pro that works great. Once you install the XRT Pro you select whether or not the DPF is deleted or not. Once you select that it is deleted, the programmer will take care of the dpf and egr valve problems you have. The programmer will clear all of your cel and trouble codes also. You need to make sure the throttle body valve is unplugged as well. This is the silver valve located directly under the piece where the egr was plugged in. You can add a muffler if you like (will help with excess noise if you like). All of the plugs that were plugged into the dpf filter and exhaust pipe can be left unplugged. I taped mine up to keep them free of dirt and moisture. Once that is all done enjoy the performance! Your truck can finally breathe! After I installed my XRT Pro my highway mileage is 23-25 and everyday driving is 18-21. Be careful what program you install it can get scary! I have mine set on mild and it's all I need.

Hope this helps.

Can you give more info on your truck in regards to how you are able to get that kind of fuel mileage?

I didn't do anything special. Just removed the dpf and egr valve, installed the XRT Pro and enjoy the performance. The one thing I do know is that once you remove or disconnect the egr system your engine oil will stay so much cleaner you can't believe the difference. Before the egr was removed I could change the oil and after 100 miles it was so filthy you would swear it had never been changed. That's because of all the exhaust soot being injected back into the engine. I now have 3000 miles on this oil change and the oil on the dipstick is still transparent. Don't hesitate to remove the dpf and egr your truck will run like it is supposed to!
