6.7L Cummins Forum

I am having an unusual whistling under hard accel. & under exhaust brake use have already checked flex boots all are undamaged and clamps are tight. could it be the wastegate blow by. runs fine 17.5 mpg 2008 3500 quad dually. this is my 3rd dodge cummins no problems with other 2 5.9s dont know too much about 6.7s . this is a lot! more than just a turbo spooling up it sounds more like a stuck wastgate but i dont know if these even have a wastegate ive been told they dont

I too hear a turbo whistle.

Only whistling I get is form my turbo spooling up and when I let off the go pedal. Other than that, everything runs just fine.

found the problem,with the help of bro-in-law it was loose nuts holding the EGR at the rear of the manifold, he said it was not an unusal problem, he has seen it on ambulances.[he works as an ambulance mech.] he said to loctite the nuts and you wont have any more problems. when i told him it sounded like blowing on a blade of grass between your thumbs he knew exactly what it was. he even told ,me,that it was worse during exh brake operation

I had the same problem along with the smell of exhaust in the cab at stop lights. As with yours, tightening the EGR cooler bolts solved the problem.
