Default 08 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7L Turns over while cranking but stops.

While driving from Atlanta back to Charleston, SC yesterday the check engine light came on. I pulled over, checked everything out that I could being on the road and everything seemed to be fine. However, a couple of times it acted as if it mis-fired, similar to a gas engine.

I've always had problems with it throwing emission codes, so I wasn't too concerned.

Then about an hour or 2 later, the red "charging system" popped up on the dash and stayed on. I then pulled over again and checked the battery cable and fuse block for problems, again, nothing stood out, but one of the batteries had corroded terminals.

I got it home and shut it off for 2 hours. When I came back out to start it up....it turned over a couple of times and then abruptly stopped cranking.

Anyone have any ideas?

Everything is stock on the truck!

Clean your battery terminals, and have your batteries tested, have the alternator checked, all connections. It could be a bad connection, a short or it could be that your not getting enough power from your batteries.

I just replaced both on mine not long ago. I wasnt having the problems you had, it just decided it didnt wanna start...charged the batteries for two days, and neither held a charge. So I replaced them, and havent had a problem since.
