While driving from Atlanta back to Charleston, SC yesterday the check engine light came on. I pulled over, checked everything out that I could being on the road and everything seemed to be fine. However, a couple of times it acted as if it mis-fired, similar to a gas engine.
I've always had problems with it throwing emission codes, so I wasn't too concerned. Then about an hour or 2 later, the red "charging system" popped up on the dash and stayed on. I then pulled over again and checked the battery cable and fuse block for problems, again, nothing stood out, but one of the batteries had corroded terminals. I got it home and shut it off for 2 hours. When I came back out to start it up....it turned over a couple of times and then abruptly stopped cranking. Anyone have any ideas? Everything is stock on the truck! |

Clean your battery terminals, and have your batteries tested, have the alternator checked, all connections. It could be a bad connection, a short or it could be that your not getting enough power from your batteries.
I just replaced both on mine not long ago. I wasnt having the problems you had, it just decided it didnt wanna start...charged the batteries for two days, and neither held a charge. So I replaced them, and havent had a problem since. |
