checked getting on the freeway? Thats B.S. We have emission testing here in AZ but only in certain counties, so the trucks are registered outside of the county so I can do what I want. The bronco I just bought just got long tube headers to delete the kitties on that too! I don't like restriction, sorry if I offend anyone...I also don't like people with hybrids, lol

It cost me over $1500 back in 1984 when I lived in California because they started Smog checking before you could register and the 76 camaro I owned had the cat removed and dual exhaust put on. so I ended up paying for a whole OEM system. Lesson learned.

Cool High flow DPF

I'm not sure where I read it but a company has come up with a material for the DPF that has greater porosity that the current media, 40% vs. 60%. Equating to a better flowing but still effective DPF and resultant increase in mileage. I'll try to find the link.

The heavy equipment industry is going with "cleanable" DPF's. CAT has a 2 piece system for retrofitting of some of the later models of trucks and earthmovers. Sort of a neat system, large and bulky with service intervals of 1000 hrs. We buy 100 or so power units directly from CAT and I haven't seen anything on the 2008 models we have recieved this year, They are still only a tier 3 machines, tier 4 will be released later this year. The equipment that we purchase is 80 ton to 200 ton trucks for water haulage or belly dump applications, earthmover (Prime mover) power trains, That is the front part of the earth mover with no scraper bowl. As far as the exhaust on mine, it will probably remain stock for a long time, it does everything that I could ever want it to do and then some just the way they designed it. (Of course there is always room for improvement in the future, I'll let DC and Cummins get the kinks worked out firsat.)

I agree, I just wish that we had a little control over when the regeneration takes place. I know that no one saw this over inflating of oil prices but when the truck starts a regeneration a mile or two from the highway where I'll be doing 70 MPH thus raising my EGT temps it really is frustrating to see that $5 a gallon diesel being dumped into the exhaust.

Control over Regen would be real nice. I'll probably put a pyro on it later this year, more for curiosity than anything.
