Default Diesel Particulant Filter Needs Replaced

Put my new oxygen sensor module on my truck and it fixed the P2A00 and P2A01 O2 circuit performance faults but after 30 minutes I resigned myself to the fact that she still wasn't going to regenerate so I stopped by the Dodge dealership in Wichita and talked to the Service Manager about the other two codes I still have, P242F and P1451, to see if maybe a manual regeneration was needed and he told me that according to the latest TBS 11-002-07 dated September 25, 2007 my DPF needs to be replaced and that's exactly what they are doing. When I told him I was over 55,000 miles and past the warranty he said "well I know what I'd be doing because you really don't want to know what a DPF cost" and smiled.

Quote:
6. Is the PCM at the latest application software level?
a. If YES >>> then proceed to the next step.
b. If NO >>> then reprogram the PCM to the latest software level. Refer to the
respective Service Bulletin for directions and warranty reimbursement. Once
reprogrammed, verify that no DTC's are present in the PCM. Then proceed to the
next step.
7. Was DTC P242F present in the PCM, along with possible DTC's P1451 or P2463?
a. If YES >>> then the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) requires replacement. Contact
STAR for additional technical assistance. Then proceed to the Repair Procedure.
b. If NO >>> then proceed to the next step.
8. Was DTC P1451 or P2463 present in the PCM, but NOT DTC P242F?
a. If YES >>> then an Exhaust System Black Smoke Test is required. Proceed to the
next section “Check For Exhaust System Black Smoke”.

b. If NO >>> then STOP. This bulletin does not apply. Additional diagnosis is required.

BIGBADDODGE is going to love to read this because I have a serious decision to make and I'm unable to convey my disappointment in writing. I'll post the info about the Oxygen Sensor module in a few after I take the old one apart.

Squid, since this occurred after the high water incident, can you assume that it is a anomaly and won't reoccur again. Remember GM Scott, who had in excess of 100000 miles on his truck with no problem?
BTW, how much is a DPF filter??
In any case, this sucks

Here I am again...What if, you were in some stage of regen when you went through the high water...The DPF in somewhere 1000DF and instantaneously drops to 100 (just a swag). The Diesel Particles may have formed a solid and boom...it plugged. If you take the DPF off and rig up a bench test...vac. at one end and vac. gauge at the other, you can measure flow...I just think it had something to do with the water...

I have had that kind of trouble many times with water/rivers and hot parts. On another truck I blew 3 sets of brake rotors from the rapid cooling. Lost a catalyst the same way.

Man squid, I feel your pain !!

Ohhh absolutely...joke it is, well not really, just a spin on your observations. Which I found VERY interesting, I was impressed! I haven't the foggiest and if I did, I'd say. But it is coincidental, the problem and the water and I admire your method of deduction...which is lacking in the tech world.

AND if I could offer a suggestion to Bro Squid...I would...but I only have 1234 KM on my truck...you guys help me more than I help you...but I am a fast learner...LOL.

Again... I do admire someone who through deduction...solves a problem...cuz it the only way...!!!
