Default Aftermarket High Flow Diesel Particulant Filter DPF

Looks like I may have the answer to my DPF being bad without resorting to a delete kit after all. Seems a company by the name of ATS will be putting a high flow performance DPF system called The Gorilla Exhaust System on the market for our trucks. The only question is when and how much?

I read about this a few months ago. Once released this just may be the answer to our HP search. I'm still leery about the delete route. The high flow DPF makes much more sense to me. DTS makes a lot of diesel truck stuff. Not too much at this point for the 6.7 but a very nice TC for the 68RFE trans.

Well I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place because the codes I'm pulling say the DPF is bad and I really hate to shell out the $ for an OEM DPF if it's only going to last 50,000 miles. At this rate I'll be buying a DPF every year and a half and that just doesn't seem right to me.

I'm going to spend the weekend tearing the truck apart because the codes for the oxygen sensor circuit (P2A00 and P2A01) came back while I was driving this morning so I'm still thinking I got water somewhere I shouldn't and these codes aren't real. I did all the checks with the meter that the manual said to and it all checked good and the flow chart said replace the Module but evidently the old one wasn't bad....................go figure? Guess an extended warranty would have been a bargain right about now,LOL.....................or a 5.9L, HA! HA!

Squid, have you heard of anyone else having DPF failures?? I assume that your truck is in a permanent limp mode...If there is anything I can do, let me know

There should be lots of take off DPFs sitting around the country. I would think that they aren't worth much. I know that there are some around here.

I goggled the codes yesterday and read where people with less then 30,000 miles have had their DPF replaced but I find it hard to believe that mine is bad since I'm getting codes for both the DPF and both 02 circuits even after changing out the 02 module. All of these codes popped up after the water crossing and I'm thinking it may be some sensor that doesn't have a code of it's own but is needed for the 02 and or DPF system that's causing the problem. If the DPF had shelled because of being submersed while regenerating that doesn't explain the 02 sensor CKT faults.

I'm just going to have to be patient because water sometimes can get into something and not get back out. I have a manual, meters, leads and pin adapters so rather then having fun drinking, cooking out and building a picnic table this weekend I'll be getting intimate with my truck..............not planned but should be educational.

Yes...it IS nice to be able to go and tell a service manager, what needs to be done.

It reminds me of when I bought my FIRST new truck. a 1978 Ford 150 shortbox 4x4. I was new to 4x4's but I could sense something wasn't right with the four wheel drive, the backend seemed to wanna pass the front end.

So in reading some of the many magazines purchased, I discovered you can determine your axle ratio by jacking one wheel and turning the tire by hand and counting the revolutions it takes to make the driveshaft turn one rev. (then divide by two)

I found that my front was about 3:50 and the rear was 3:00...even though the tag said it was a 3:50.

So I head to the local dealer, talk to the service manager and he said the only way they would determine what the axle ratio was, was to pull the rearend and count teeth. If I was wrong I'd have to pay, otherwise it was warranty.

That pissed me off, I was a young grad out of school but still broke enough to not want to gamble. So I called the dealer I bought it from who were 5 hours one way away, described the problem, and was told get it in right away....

So I did, and drove in the service bay and the first thing they did was jack up one wheel, and turn the tire and counted...........and yes I was right.

And I was vindicated. And I DID call the first dealer and let them know. I even told them that a much larger shop determined it the same was as I did..and then I and never bought anything there again.

Outstanding, my hat is off to you. You took matters in your own hand and solved the problem
