Default Volant CAI for the Cummins 6.7L

I fired off an Email to Volant this afternoon about a CAI for our Cummins 6.7L. They do make a CAI for the 5.9L Cummins so I'm going to hold out until they get the 6.7L out on the market and I hope to hear back from them tomorrow.

Looks like a nice system. I like the fact that it's enclosed.
I have the airaid cool air system. It has a rubber seal that makes contact with the hood to seal off from the engine compartment. Seems to work well but I did not see a increase in mpg. Only had about 3000 miles on it at that time.

Not yet. First I spent the money on two Doberman puppies for the wife (Got to distract the Queen while I'm Modding. ) and now I spent some of the funds on a rear diff cover so I don't have to pull the cover at every change. (Should be here on the 1st)

That's why I was looking at CAI's and exhaust since they are on my list of wants. Maybe next month for the programmer. I am going to get it before Summer because it gets well over 100 F around here and I'd hate to toast my Turbo.

Here ya go Bud. http://cumminsownerz.com/f50/pml-dif...ial-cover-190/ I'll take some pictures of it when it gets here so you all can get a close up of it and then when I pull the old one off I'll shoot some side by side comparison pics.

I'm still miffed that in 2008 a manufacturer is building differentials with no drain plug. Especially a rear diff that they recommend a 15,000 mile drain on.

Update: I never heard back from Volant so I fired off another email.

I thought about it and I'm sure just about any machine shop could do it. My Nissan Titan has a magnetic drain plug so you could buy one of those and take it and the cover down and have it installed.
With that said, I decided that the additional cooling and fluid capacity of the aluminum cover would be very beneficial out on the highway in mid August around here where it gets well over 100 F. Because face it, the odds of me remembering to replace the fluid every 15,000 miles probably ain't going to happen so I'll be running synthetic Mobil 1 too.

As Dirty Harry said, "A man's got to know his limitations." HAHAHA

All right it seems that there is a Volant for the 6.7L that runs the Donaldson Nano dry filter as used on the Tanks over in Iraq. $449. Volant 07.5+ 6.7L Cummins Air Intake System w/ PowerCore Filter [168676] : Lethal Diesel, Your #1 source for diesel performance

Volant Filter Box: Cross-link polyethylene filter box is engineered to specific design. It insulates and protects the filter from pulling hot air from the engine compartment, thus, increasing horsepower.

Volant Air Duct: Cross-link polyethylene air ducts are sculptured to give the engine a less restrictive air pass to breathe. Larger diameters, unique bends and smooth transitions gives you maximum horsepower and awesome throttle response.

Volant PowerCore Filter: By using Donaldson'sŪ advanced Ultra-WebŪ NanoFiberSM technology, submicron contaminants load on the surface rather than collecting in the depth of the filter. This boosts efficiency and increases performance over convention for your aftermarket intake system. Ultra-WebŪ NanoFibers won't deteriorate as easily as traditional filters. Plus, it's impervious to water, so getting wet won't ruin your flow or ever cramp your style. This is why we warranty our replacement PowerCore air-filters for 4 years or 100,000 miles in urban conditions, whichever comes first.

Polished Aluminum lid: Polished Aluminum Lid is our newest upgrade. Embossed polished aluminum lid with high grade neoprene foam backing.

High Performance Silicon Connectors: High performance silicone hose connectors provides flexibility while maintains strength and thermal stability.

Stainless Steel Clamps: Marine grade clamps allows optimal performance with large operating range and available for virtually any application which requires maintainability and versatility.

Sounds like a first rate system and I believe I'll be going with this rather then the Banks wet system.

I ordered the Volant today for my 6.7L and if all goes well it'll be here by Friday. I'm still playing with level 1 (Mileage) of the Edge and logging EGT and cool down times.
