Default cold air intakes

Hey guys, i got an 08' 3500 and just turned 63000 miles on it. i'm looking to put a cold air intake on it. Looking through the past threads it looks like k and n would be a good choice. Just wanting to see what others had on thiers and how they were liking thier choice. Also looking at doing a filter back exhaust on it to.

I put on a Banks CAI with super scoop. Love the difference in the spool up and sound of the turbo, and there is power increase that I felt.

Next step for me is an exhaust, not sure what direction I wanna go yet, stacks or conventional....I am still researching them both...so far conventional exhaust is winning my votes more and more!

Good luck and have fun man!

ya thats pretty much what i'm looking at as well. Either going with k and n or banks. I like the look of stacks if they are done right. There are few guys around me that put stacks on and they look like crap. Either not positioned in the box right or they look like they are trying to get the height of the overpasses. But with me pulling a gooseneck livestock trailer quite often im just going to stick with conventional.

also i see that you said you had the super scoop installed as well. How is that as far as sucking things into it? My only worry with the super scoop below the bumper like that is i do get the truck into some spots getting back to my hunting area. Not so much water as much and some tall vegetation and corn stalks.

I havent had any problems with anything getting sucked up into the tube. If anything did manage to get sucked up into the tube it would be stopped at the filter anyway....

There are reliefs in the backside so most things would most likely just pass right through. But so far, I am liking the set up and love the sound I get from the turbo now. Milage has been real consistent holding right aroung 15.5-16mpg, but I have a heavy foot so there is probably better milage to have out of it.

I have a 2008 banks cai with scoop and spare parts coming up forsale if anyone interested. My truck needs a front hitch for ranch work far more and the scoop is preventing that from happening. I really hate parting with but I also do not need this sitting around. Let me know if interested. Its a full kit with no missing parts, spare filter (I swap filters and wash later) and spare flex boots.

BTW, I have used my truck heavy on dusty ranches, lots of 4x4 work and the scoop has not been a issue at all even when I submerged it in river crossing. Its worked out well !

morbius, do you know if the super scoop can be used with other intakes or does it only work if you have the bank's system?

Sorry, the scoop is made for the Bank unit. The S&B scoop that look similar only works with the S&B air box.

Hope that helps.

Cheers.

And the Volant scoop will only work with the Volant intake, FYI.

im really leaning towards banks cai system with the scoop. Just had to do a litlle investigating to make sure i wont have a problem sucking anything up into the scoop snow rain etc etc. Or if i should get rid of some of the exhaust system before i packed more air into motor
