Default TS Performance MP 8 for the Cummins 6.7L

$370 and is stackable. TS Performance diesel powerplay MP8 programmer

I'd never heard of it before but I was Talking to this older gentleman at a truck stop last night who had the identical truck as mine except white and he said he was getting 18 MPG unloaded with only 6000 miles on his truck using the MP 8 (At 6000 miles I was only getting 15MPG unloaded). Said he had it on his 5.9L and the MPG gains are no joke so I'm thinking about stacking it with my edge.

The new TS Performance PowerPlay MP8 is the only module of it kind to have ever hit the diesel market. The TS MP8 is a universal performance module that holds eight brand specific programs. It contains all diesel brand applications on one chip board. It is the only universal module on the market and the only one that is always upgradeable and never outdated!
The MP8 holds eight programs and when the appropriate harness is connected it will access the programs for the application and it will marry the harness to the MP8. This module is also stackable with many other performance downloaders and programmers. The MP8 also has an incab adjustable knob so you can control the amount of horsepower you desire.
Since the MP8 will hold eight programs you will always have an upgradable module even if you change brands of trucks. You can send it to TS Performance and we will reset the MP8 and you can just purchase a new harness for your new truck. This will elimate the problems of having to try and trade or sell your old module. This is also an option no other manufacture can offer the end user.

TS Performance MP-8 – Others dream it TS builds it! One For all!

This module is a Plug and Play. The Mp-8 produces 100+ hp and only takes minutes to install. MP-8 FAQ's
Question: What is the max fuel pressure that the MP-8 will produce?
Answer: The TS Performance MP-8 does not exceed 26,000 psi of fuel rail pressure. The factory fuel rail pressure can be ran 29,000 all day long and not damage anything. ( That info came direct from BOSCH).

Question: How does the MP-8 make 100hp+ without raising rail pressure beyond factory specs?
Answer: The Mp-8 is the only box on the market of it’s kind. Both the map sensor and the fuel pressure sensor are fully programmable. By reprogramming the map sensor signal you achieve several things… 1) since the map senor thinks it is at different boost level it will add injection timing accordingly. 2) This is the primary reason we don’t have to raise rail pressure beyond factory specs and risk damaging engines.
Question: Is the MP-8 a timing box?
Answer: No it is not, however with the ability to reprogram the map sensor we can add injection timing to fit the consumers application.
Question: Can the MP-8 be stacked with other Modules?
Answer: Yes it can be. Make sure the box you are attempting to stack has different functions.( Such as TST etc.) I would also recommend contacting TS Performance before attempting this.

Unloaded, if you slow down to 55-60 and drive with a little anticipation, you can get 18 MPG plus without a box. My 2008 MEGA 4x4 auto has a canopy and will get 18 MPG plus when I am empty.

Must be nice. My 3500 4x4 with the limited slip had a hard time hitting 15.5 unloaded before the Edge and CAI.

Default 6.7L The skinny on MP8

Here is the skinny on an TS Performance MP8 for an 2007.5 6.7L..
We just got home from a 6000 mile tour of 23 states. From central NC to Cheyenne, Estes Park, Penrose, Gunnison, Moab, Gallup, Painted Desert, Albuquerque, Amarillo, Oklahoma City, Wichita, Cape Girardeau, Bowling Green & Marion, NC.

I installed the MP8 at home before we left. Half way up a hill in West Virginia in 5th gear pulling hard at 23k the engine kicked a code. “Low fuel line pressure”. Drove into dealer in Louisville and they told me the code. Reset computer. Drove to Estes Park & removed MP8. Average fuel mileage to that point was about mid 9s. I get mid 11s around NC towing with no MP8.
Drove to Penrose, CO. Loaded truck bed with large size CO. red rock. From that point I was grossing 26,440#s. From that point to TS Performance, Bowling Green, KY. I still averaged mid 9s even with extra load of stone.

Cool Stock 6.7 Fuel Economy

Just another FYI. I had submitted a post recently about cleaning my O2 sensors to regain mileage. I had to do it again. My mileage had dropped to about 15 mpg max on the overhead. One day it started to increase, made it to 18 then in about a mile dropped back to 16 and wouldn't get any better. I drove it home, let it cool off and cleaned the sensors by spraying carb cleaner into all the holes in the end of the sensors to circulate the soot out of them, took off down the road and within 3 miles at a steady cruise it had climbed to 20 mpg. over the next 5 miles it maxed out at a little over 23 mpg. Flat road for the most part at 55 mph steady cruise. Keeping them clean I average 15.5 combined (hand calculated) and over 20 at a steady cruise dropping to 17 mpg. hwy during re-gen. I'm not saying it will solve everybody's problems but it might help.

I will say this TS Performance did tell me that the overhead is totally not reliable after their installation of the MP8.
My overhead is all over the place.

So have you decided on whether you had a bad MP8 or if this is the norm with the 6.7L?

On the way back from the Rockies I stopped by TS Performance. Dennis replaced the box and wiring harness. Did not change a thing. I was towing very heavy and not pushing it. I plan to keep the box. It may make a difference unloaded.

August 2008

Within a month of my trip to Rockies and adding the MP8 I had my first problems with the catalyst. You guys with DPF deletes the MP8 would be a good chip. Not for me.
