Default superchips

Thanks. I just sold my 2000 and the Superchips tuner with it. Worked fairly well except I did get tired of going back and forth tuning for tow then back to performance, etc. Is Firefly another brand? Or will that be an upgrade on the 3808? Thanks again.

Same here...Too much time to change setting. I beleive that Firefly works with the 3808. It has the cool laser gauge that comes with it. I have the laser gauge on my truck and like it...Not sure when Firefly will be available for the 6.7....Later

I noticed this in your comments:

"It also allows for idle up and at will regen."

My biggest problem with my new truck is the regen. It seems to happen whenever you least expect it, doesn't complete itself, and makes the truck run like crap while it's happening. I'm wondering if being able to set it "at will" would make it any better, more predictable and maybe complete cycle? What does idle up do for you, prevent it from loading up and causing regen? I'm new with this truck, so anything you can tell me will be helpful.

You can set it to start at anytime. It works with the unit plugged in starts the regen when temps are right. Gives you egt data and status of the regen...

Howdy lakecummins, welcome to the site. We're all new to the 6.7L Cummins and still trying to figure out the complexities and temperament of the beast don't feel like a lone wolf.

I have the edge programmer and the lowest amount of time I've seen for a full regeneration was 7 minutes with the longest being 14 minutes when I was out on a county road and had to stop at a stop sign every few miles.

Sorry I did not answer all of your questions. Idle up is for periods of long idle above the normal 700 rpm. Superchip 3808 allows you to activate the idle up feature and allows higher idle speed while parked...Truck in park and foot off the break. Long periods of low rpm idle will load up the DPF ( Diesel Particulate Filter) and cause more frequent regen's. I use idle up at long traffic lights as well.

Default Wanting improved pereformance

Hi. Last year I purchased a 2008 Ram 3500 with Cummins 6.7, 6 spd auto, 4 X 4. Just installed a K & N cold air intake and really like it.

I would like some discussion on what I should install for a programmable chip. I am currently looking at the 3808 but know nothing about them. We do a fair amount of towing both our boat or our 5th wheel RV. Ideally I would like to get great fuel mileage around town then when towing switch to a more powerful mode for towing the toys.

I would also enjoy some feed back on what extra gauges to install such as Turbo Boost and EGT or ? for towing with a chip. I have been a little frustrated with the gauge issue because to install gauges on my A post would mean the loss of the grab handle. Do I even need the additional gauges for towing?

I would be pleased to hear from anyone that has already solved this issue.

Regards
Jim103

Hi, Jim. I have a 2007.5 Ram 3500 6.7 L similar to yours and tow a heavy fifth wheel. I was thinking about installing an intake. Did you notice any increase in noise with the K & N intake? Did you notice any difference in gas mileage?

Ken
