Howdy All,
Got a new toy to try on my 08 6.7L 3500 and thought I would share the info. ![]() Install a Bully Dog 40420 Triple Dog GT Diesel for Dodge. Got it from Bully Dog 40420 Triple Dog GT Diesel for Dodge, Ford & GM which had the lowest price around with free next day shipping. Reason for going with this unit was the following: 1. Wanted to add 3 additional guages via OBDII only. PLX junk was not an option due to the poor quality of their products and support. To get PLX working right, it will cost at least $1200 .... Been there and done it ![]() 2. Want the ability to change some common stuff on 6.7L programmer that only dealers can do. Like fogs on with high beams, and couple other functions. 3. Wanted to install a mild tuning without installation of a complete secondary computer controller like Edge or Banks. This unit like soon to be released Banks unit is Dodge 6.7L specific. 4. The ability to return the ECU maps to factory default at anytime I want. The above unit has provided all that with an installation of a whole 15 minutes !! I was also able to revert the ECU back to factory maps in a in minutes with no fuss or muss. My setup has a boost, pyro post turbo (with option to install one pre-turbo which I will do later) and pyro post DPF (useful when living in a rural area with lots of tall grass), tranny temp .... The other neat feature is that I have access to another dozen gauges like common rail pressure .... The unit is extremely easy to remove for the dealer (took me 5 minutes) on last oil change. Did it while waiting for the dealer tech went to get his clipboard to check me in. No side effects when unplugged. The cable from OBDII unit to the display is standard HDMI so if not long enough, any home stereo shop has longer ones ![]() Have not used any of the tune options yet. My main goal was gauges and for $550 I really got more than good quality gauges could provide. Later I will post pics of the install (not much to it). Cheers, Roberto |

So far, happy with the unit as a gauge. This is one of the few units found so far that truly reads the both pyro units with an option to install an alternate. Cheers, Roberto |

Hello Vis,
Here is what they claim: Peak TorqueHow true is it, not really sure. My butt dyno says there is a little extra kick when playing with the settings My #1 goal, was the OBDII gauges and some changes in the ECU without dealer involvement.I am tossing around the idea of looking at the Edge Insight which does the OBDII gauges also but with visual/audio warning levels for user presets and its 1/2 the price. However it is gauges only, no possible tunes and no ECU Dodge specific mods like the TripleGauge unit. Now the Insight does not require removal for Dealer visit since its pure OBDII gauges which is a big plus. Cheers, Roberto |

I think the Edge Insight is a great set of gauges since it's pretty much the same thing I have without the module and I love having all the warnings like EGT, Boost, Transmission and engine temp to name a few. Oh and the Max MPH has saved me from more then one ticket because when not using the cruise she tends to really gain steam all on her own.
![]() I'm still trying to figure out why people want the fogs on with the high beams because this truck has the best set of High's I've ever had on a vehicle and since I drive out in the boonies in a Deer and Cattle rich enviornment I value seeing way down the road at 70MPH. (Yup, I see heards of cattle in the road all the time. You know it's Black Angus because the center yellow line will disappear all of a sudden.) ![]()

I actually had tons of problems with stock lights ..... For me, worst I have dealt with in a very long time. Nearly hit an old lady in our area that like to walk the roads at night by starlight ..... I replace all the lights with HIDs. Now I can see clearly (especially her) and in all areas at night and morning.
Fogs on with Highs give extra side lighting, so using highs floods the front area longer but reduces side lighting. Enabling fogs on high makes up for it. I find it very useful in some areas in the country. Yes the Insight warnings look to be great, just wish they picked off more of the Dodge ECU specific stuff like Bully did. When setting up Bully, it uses dodge 6.7L specific codes, Insight like it does not .... Now with that said, I have no first hand experience with Insight, just reading their manuals ![]() |

I gotta tell ya, I'm in love with that tuner of yours...My wife's going to kill me if I buy another one. It appears that the extreme torque and hp levels are the same as my 3808 superchips tuner. I drive in extreme most of the time, as long as I don't put my foot in it, regens don't occur more often and I have that extra power when I need it. I think it would be interesting to correlate post turbo to dpf temps and preturbo to dpf temps. You'd have a much better understanding of what's going on. Keep us informed as you gain time and knowledge

Here's some reading material about the Bully Dog 40420 Triple Dog GT for our Cummins powered Dodge. The first one is their FAQ and the second one is the user instructions.

Folks,
Will keep you posted. There are some good things and several bad things about the unit so far. So I am working up a notebook of things. One thing I found so far is that some of the user option to set to update the ECU is causing errors and random screw ups. The other is in stock mode the acceleration control seems like its actually robbing power ..... Their 2008 ECU coding has errors in it for a 6.7L, nothing that can not be fixed via the overhead control panel. More to come once I get it all resolved, working with the Bully folks ..... ![]() Cheers, Roberto |
