Big Amen to EGT gauges
Understanding the EGT is almost a requirement on the 6.7. How do you determine cool-down time without it?? Suppose your truck goes into regen, without the gauge, you have no idea where the Turbo temp. is.
Along with;
Towing Temps
# of regens
and others

Default Insight

I went with the insight and installed the EGT sensor.
I am still thinking I should of got the juice but anyways...
so the warning screen flashed and said regeration on.
What does that mean? What is regenerating?

Welcome jamespi, your truck has a DPF or Diesel Particulate Filter or you could call it the Black Smoke Filter. Your filter fills up and the diesel particulate needs to be removed because the exhaust is restricted. The 6.7 uses extra pulses of fuel, injected at the bottom of the power stroke. This raw fuel makes it way into the exhaust system where it burns up the diesel particulates trapped in the filter. I have my egt probe located just down from the turbo, where I see temps of 1050 to 1250 df during regen.
Higher performance settings on any tuner will help the dpf to fill up faster. This is only true if you use that extra power with a heavy foot.

Like I said earlier I installed the insight; it works great and has a lot of info to display.
A couple displays seem like they could help me with better fuel mileage like the throttle position and load.
How would I equate that info to better mileage and is there other displays that would help as well?
Thanks

Have a couple of questions, one is what EGT are you guys running when regen is not happening and when Regen is happening? I just installed my Edge w/ Attitude and put my probe in the exhaust manifold, (thanks Squid for the help). I'm running about 880 F at 65 MPH when not in Regen and 1150-1250 while in Regen. Man does Regen hurt the mileage!

My temps are about same as you. I do not notice fuel milaege but it feels like I have more power during regen.

Yup, has too...You're pumping fuel at the bottom of the power stroke into the exhaust to burn off the diesel particulates....Good side is. No Smoke
