Default Upper ball joints

My 2007 3500 4x4 was pulling to the right, had it checked out and they aligned it and said I had some play in the upper ball joints. Does anyone know if there is a issue with Dodge upper ball joints?.... I only have 24K on my dodge, any recommendations on what brand I should go with replacements. Might also explore going back to the dealer...however they may just replace them with OEM non adjustables. Anyway would really appreciate any feedback. thanks!

Wow, I have over 78,000 miles with no problems with my 4x4 front end. If it only has 24K why didn't they replace them under warranty?

Yes, there have been ball joint issues but many of them are the result of shops not knowing the correct movement specs. There really is more movement allowed than you think. I can't remember the exact spec. I will try to find it and post it later. My suggestion is to take it to a trust worthy dealer and have it checked.

I have 25,000 miles on my 08 4x4 , and I have not had any front end problems, the tires on the front wear evenly and the only thing I have noticed is that the front end feels a tiny bit different after they did the recall on the front end parts , not a real pull in one direction but it seems to fallow the rutts in the road a bit more than it did originaly , but it may be starting to get some wear on it but , I don't think any thing is wore out.

The upper ball joint tolerance is measured at the the joint/knuckle and should not exceed .060 (60 thousands) IN/OUT.
The lower ball joint tolerance is .090 (90 thousands) UP/DOWN measured at the joint. 90 thousands is about 1/10 of an inch!
Both measurements should only be taken using a dial indicator. Never should measurements taken at any other point be considered.
Think about how much this allowable movement translates to at the outer edge of a 20" wheel and tire, which is where at lot of techs take the measurement.

Thanks for all the advice... I will take into the dealer and have them take a look at them. It is still under warranty.
