So I had a u-joint go bad on my rear driveshaft with only 91,000 miles. When I pulled the drive shaft off to replace them I found that one flange on the yoke was bent. After calling around and getting some quotes on having the yoke replaced, new u-joints installed and the drive shaft rebalanced I opted to just purchase a new one from Doghouse Diesel Power, Performance, Mileage & Longevity for $625 shipped and had it here in 2 days. I'm sure glad I did because as you can see from the pictures the u-joints looked to be sealed a whole lot better then the original ones so you might want to keep this in mind.
The one thing I learned from this is since the U-joints on these trucks are held in place by a hard plastic injection method if you remove them and install new U-joints with the metal keeper the drive shaft will now be out of balance something I wouldn't have thought of. ![]()

That's spendy, but better you found out on your own and not on the road.
I was on the road in my buddies truck when his drive shaft went out. Crap, it scared the shit out of me.

I keep staring at the pics and to me, something is wrong.
The joints are too small for a drive shaft, those are the same size for the front axle. The load points on those joints are all the way to the outside edge. That will tear up the roller needles way too easy. That looks like a 1/2 ton joint on a 1 ton setup. After looking at this post and other pics of 6.7 drive shaft, man do I have a ton of questions !!

Looked small to me too and might explain why they don't last long. Here's a picture of the bent yoke and that was the Ujoint that was stiff.

I had only 55,000km and both front and rear u-joints had to be replaced, still under warranty.
