Default Lube Front Drive Shaft

My owners manual says that I need to lube the front drive shaft with lithium grease at each oil change interval. I did the oil change yesterday but unless I am getting blind as I get older I don't see any lube fitting where the diagram shows it.

(Hope I did this right, I am trying to attach the diagram to the post)

Front Prop Shaft Lubrication
Lubricate the front driveshaft grease fitting at each oil
change listed in the appropriate Maintenance Schedule
for your vehicle (Schedule “A” and “B”). Use Mopar
type MS-6560 (lithium based grease), or equivalent.

You're not blind the u-joints are sealed just like the tie-rods.

Default Tricky little sucker to find!

I had the same problem looking to service my 09 2500 SXT. Here's a pic - you will need a needle adapter for your grease gun.

Now what do you guys suppose the odds are that the kid at the dealership that's changing your oil is lubing that little orifice?

Yes it does have a grease fitting and I finally marked it after the first few attempts to find it. Really hard to find. If you do find it be sure to mark the location.
You need a needle fitting on you grease gun to fit in it, and you will probably have a glob of grease when you grease, cause it doesn't take a whole lot.

That fitting really does not lube the u-joints, it puts a little grease in the ball and socket on the CV joint itself. Chevys had a problem with theirs, then they learned you need to apply some grease every now and again, that is when the hidden, almost unservicable, inside out grease fitting came to into play. I hate them, if the CV joint is not in exactly the right position you cannot get to it, besides then it take 3 hands to grease it. My 96 has 170,000 miles on it and it has never been greased, it is still free and servicable. JMHO

Default New to this Forum

Bought new 09 in Sept. and have only 3600 miles on so far. Try not to drive around town much. Have a 33ft fifth whl to pull as well as various other trlrs so looking forward to the power this truck seems to have. Love the auto trans so far.The little woman drives and pulls the trlr once in awhile and I wont be able to yell at her to keep the revs up. Had 02 6spd before great trk. Looking forward to monitoring a new forum for info.

81,000 miles and I still haven't seen mine yet. Guess I'm going to have the raise the front end to find it.

Thanks for the pic. I have been searching for the past three months, but had not found it. I checked with O'Reillys; they have a replacement universal joint, with grease zerk for about $25. I wonder if it would be worth replacing the original?
