Default Carrier bearing cap bolts

2008 3500 AA rear end, carrier bolts are loose on the pinion side of the ring gear carrier. Gear noise started at about 30K miles and increased until 50K miles when I decided to do something about it. Also noticed was a pulsing sound (grinding?).
Cover removal resulted in finding very loose cap bolts such that the cap can be moved freely from side to side about 1/4".
Is this a common malady?
Recommendations?
Taking it to dealer Monday.

Thank you for any help.

Skip,

Welcome aboard !

To be real honest, never heard of a diff bolts loosening up. They are usually torqued down well with thread sealant. Sound like you got a possible Friday @ 4:55 pm build. Would be interesting to see what the dealer has to say and other team members.

Cheers.
