Default Just regrooved GYear G647

With a few threads around about re-groovable tires I did some research and looked at several tire manufacturers snow treads. I decided to take my Goodyear G647s to a local truck stop and discuss with them about regrooving my tires to give me a snow tread. This is what I ended up with.

This is look of original tires.

This is what we ended up with on rear tires.

Wow, very nice !! That is a nice pattern with a good bite !

How about some details like cost, time, etc. What lead to the thinking behind that pattern ? With the regrooving, how much thread was depth was created ? What was it before ?

Cheers.

Couple of things. Look at the first tire with factory tread. All we did was use the original tread lines and cut them wider and just down to the depth of the original twqo center line treads. We gained no additional rubber. It cost me $50.00 for four tires. It took about 2 hours. I took a hunting trip this past week to the mtns of NC and had 13"s of snow. My factory tread was almost worthless.

How many miles did you have on the tires before regrooving ?

Cheers.

Maybe 35k. Using the term regrooving is not really correct as to what I did. I simply cut wider grooves in it to give me a more aggressive tread.
