Seems like 5 to 6000 miles is about the max these trucks can go due to the regeneration process.

Great news! I just recieved my latest oil report back. Blackstone said check it again at 6K. I have been changing it at 5K with the stratopore filter and Valvoline Blue (The synthetic stuff) and this last change the fuel went down to 3.5% and all of the wear metals are stabile, the soot was alittle high but I think that will never go away. I feel it would be too expensive to put a bypass type filter on it to do much good. I have done a lot of looking in this area and I would have to create my own system to be efficient in removing the soot from the oil at this point. You would have to filter down to less than 1 micron to make it worth while, IMHO. That would mean some special filters. So far if I were to do it, it would cost around $700 but the oil would probably stay clear. Blackstone also stated the actual viscosity reduction (less than 30wt from the 15w-40, appearently these engines are pretty tough on oil viscosties) in this engine at 6,000 miles would not extend the interval enough to be economical. So for now it looks like 5,000 to 6,000 miles for oil changes is what she will get.

Here is my latest oil sample. I think things are shaping up so far. About 5k miles, Valvoline Premium Blue and Fleetguard filters is my change interval. I pulled the intake tube off last week and checked the inside of the tube all of the way down to the turbo and no signs of dusting, the crankcase filter was changed right after the last oil change. Crossing my fingers that this is a good sign.

Got this one back last week. I am pleased to say the K&N air filter seems to be doing its job. High idle and net-zero sooting seems to be the trick.
