Back to one of my first comments. The first oil sample I sent was on a motor with 14,000 miles with NO bypass. I ran my 6000 miles towing thru the Rockies. So, that oil had 6000 miles of rough duty. The sample looked good except insoluables. Now that I have the AMSOil remote bypass and I run it for another 6k I will have a good reference point to see just how good the filter is doing.

Thanks, looked very close to mine @ 5000 miles on the oil and 12K on the engine. I use Cummins Blue 15w-40 and the fleet guard LF16035 filter. Looking forward to your next analysis. Like the fact the filter is easy to access
BTW, my duty cycle was not as severe...Mostly flat and unloaded, very little stop and go, rpm's at 1500 min. all the time, engine brake on always, some wot for short distances. Temp. here like yours and towing 20% of the time in the Smoky Mountains.

I just recieved my latest oil report. This will be #3.
1st: Iron was high, Silicon was high Insolubles at 0.3%, every thing else was good (3,200 miles on Rotella)
2nd: Copper was high, TBN was good for an extended change Insolubles 0.4% (4,900 miles on MOPAR oil)
3rd: every thing evened out Viscosity was low (10W-30 range, 63.5/11.19) fuel dilution went up to 3.5%. There was alot of low speed driving on that oil, TBN 3.5. (4,700 miles on MOPAR oil)
At the last oil change I was in need before a long trip and Rotella was used. I try to get the dealer to do the oil changes ($49.95 including filter, not to bad) This time I also bought fleetguard filters for it. I have not added any oil to it and it does not appear to "make oil", the level is the same when It gets changed as when it was when it left??.
I think the money invested in the oil sampling is a great value I now have 18K on the clock.

I just used Blackston labs and with ~5000 miles on the 15W-40 Rotella, there was a 4.5% fuel dilution. Comments from Blackstone is cautionary as 2% is considered the max, however it appears the emissions diesels are having some problems like this. I believe I have heard that 5% is max but I can't count on the EVIC to tell me to change oil, I just chose to do so at 5000 rather than wait.

Flashpoint was 370, so that was low as well.

I have been changing mine between 4 and 5,000, Still I show 3.5% fuel. Black stone said not in the danger level yet but to watch it and give it a good hard ride before next oil change.

Just got back the results for the last 2 oil changes. When I figure out how to modify them I will post them. 27K un the rig and Blackstone states I could run at a 6K oil change cycle. I did A LOT of idiling in October and as usual the sample came back with 6% fuel. This last change it had dropped back to 4%, still a little high but with in reason. Insolubals are at 0.3% so combustion and filtration are good. I use the LF 16035 for the filter, silicone is low so the air filter is doing it's thing, It is a Baldwin cross for the Fram that was in it. I use the Mopar oil if I get it changed at the dealer, or Shell Rotella if I get it done at Valvoline. This last change I used the Valvoline Synthetic 5w - 40, it now comes in a CJ-4 rating and it was only $10 more than the Shell. I will probably only run it for 5K and see what the samples look like. It still sucks to have to pay $100 for an oil change and supply a $15 filter. I have changed enough oil in my life (30 years in fleet service) and feel I owe it to myself not to do my own any more though.
