anyone had issues with change oil required on overhead coming on too soon...it started at about 49000 miles...had oil and fuel filter changed and 1600 miles later oil change required comes on...took to dealer for another issue and they tell me the ecm is saying my idle time is 25% which is causing this..i tell them that the ecm is wrong...i dont idle 25%of the tim...a couple of minutes top in cooler weather and off i go on a 39 mile one way to work (mostly highway speeds). that was a friday ...saturday change oil and on monday(you guessed it) oil change required comes back on...call the dealer who says there are no tsb's for this problem and cummins engineers don't have a solution...the service manager says basically i will have to live with it or he can try and diagnose the problem at my cost(since the basic warranty has expired.) my thinking is that fuel is leaking into oil and throwing off the viscosity sensor thus causing change oil required to come on...dealer says that truck is not throwing any codes for injectors... now has been about 1900miles since oil change and the frigging change oil required comes on about every 4th day...reset and go on down the road...

Are you sure on your last oil change or prior one the system has been reset ? I was getting that also until I made it a check list item with my dealer. I would reset the counter and see what happens. The trigger is sensor and/or mileage.

yes..reset every time ....even doublechecked with service manager...turn key to on...three hard presses of gas pedal...turn key off and remove...open door to put system to sleep and close door...also noticed that randomly over the last couple of months that the trip/odometer would switch ...i always run on trip mode and sometimes on start-up it would revert to the odometer mode...again service manager says no tsb's but can try and diagnose at my expense...maybe need a new dealer.... i should also mention that nothing had changed from 1st oil change until this problem started...same oil, same filter , same driving habits....was getting 6500-7000 between changes...

It does that so I had my dealership shut it off.
