Default New fuel filter housing????

Stopped at the dealer to get filters for the truck, parts guy says Dodge made a change to the fuel filter and I need to buy a new housing and updated filter, at the tune of $110. I said no thank you!

For now I'm gonna see if I can find some aftermarket ones to stock up on until I find out if somebody knows something more about this change and what was the prupose of it is and what it accomplishes?

I just bought a new style fuel filter from Cummins yesterday. The price was $56.06 CDN. This is significantly less than my Dodge dealer's trade price. I have been buying all my filters there since day one. The new fuel filter cartridge price at Cummins is about $30 CDN.

Does anyone have any thoughts about this filter? (FRAM Fuel/Water Separator Spin-on Filter PS10279), it's at xtremediesel for $35.00.

Personally, I do not touch FRAM. If you are looking for a replacement element, than this is a much better deal and still cummins ...

Glacier Diesel Power - Product Detail

If you are looking for a replacement filter element, then I would spend the extra few bucks and get this, its also cummins and no warranty issues if something happens ..

I got the new style filter from geno's garage as well, you can get fleetguard or mopar from them. the maint. pack they have was the way to go for me, got fuel and oil filters for the year for a lot less than the dealer.

If you go from the 7 micron filter to the 5 micron fuel filter, you have to change the filter housing (shell),and filter element (cartridge), as they are slightly different. mine is a 2008 and I don't know if dodge up graded to the better filter for 2009 or not? so you have to check..
