My truck has given me nothing but trouble (threw another 2262 today) but the oil change monitoring system has been one of the only things that functions "normally". I get the oil changed about every 5k and only seen the oil change message once, when the dealership didn't reset it. That time it was exactly 7,500 miles.

I read a thread somewhere that said the ECM is monitoring the amount of time spent in regen and the amount of idle time as the primary data. It's trying to guess how badly the oil is diluted by fuel with a goal of not more than 5%. I don't have direct knowledge - just passing on info I read elsewhere.

I had my dealership shut my oil change warning off.

As for the 2262 you aren't creating boost so the sliding vane isn't moving and desooting the Turbo. You're going to have stop driving it like a Prius and start driving it like the beast it is. Go to a long onramp and at about 30 MPH floor that puppy a couple of times a week.

I don't tow anything heavy and unless you do there's no realistic way of putting the motor under a sustained load. I floor it up steep hills but it's got enough power that within a few seconds I'm up to 75mph on a two lane road and have to back off. I even tried flooring it up the hill in 5th while dragging the brakes. I had to give up on that idea when I noticed how hot and stinking the brakes got.

On an 08 I believe that 7500 miles is the default setting. If you look in your manual almost all oil changes and maint is geared for the 7500 mile mark. At 15000 you will find that you are to change the rear end fluid also. I'm coming up on 30000 miles so I'll be on my 2nd rear and front end fluid changes.

Drive with the exhaust brake on...that flexes the vanes...Short bursts of acceleration are also effective...Keep your rpms up while driving...45 mph in 4Th...When you release the accelerator...the exhaust brake will pull more boost and flex the vanes...Gear down as you are coming to a stop....Same principle

I have always used the EB 100% since new. I like it and agree that it makes the truck more fun. My personal experience is that it doesn't help the 2262 issues.

I'm sorry about that, but my experience is that it does help

I guess I am fortunate that I tow regularly with mine and have reasonable drive time every day. I change my oil at 5K with a sample taken, I can tell when I have extended idle time on the engine, the fuel % is a little high but not over limits. When I just tow, every thing is pretty good on the sample.

Dale, the other thing you can try is WOT without downshifting....Around 50 mph in 4Th...Floor it, you don't want it to downshift, this will give you max boost for short distances...Very effective for me. I drive this truck unloaded more than loaded (towing). I run this procedure at least once per day...Not only is it effective, it's a real kick in the pants acceleration

Dealer told me when I had mine in last for the ECM light and they did the TSB-18-035-08, that I didn't need to use the EB except when I actually needed it. First time I was in, they said to use it "some". This time they said to "just drive the truck normally." "Shouldn't have to drive the truck any special way."
By the way, my first oil change was at 3000 miles with no "Service Engine" prompt. 2500 miles later, I got the "Service Engine" prompt. That put me at 5500 miles. Dealer said they forgot to reset at the first oil change. On their window sticker they put on, they show me due back in at 10,500. They did the oil change, I suppose they used Mopar. FWIW, Valvoline Blue is recommended by Cummins. They put the "Cummins" logo on the Valvoline oil container. If I keep this truck that long, when the warranty is up, that is probably the oil I will use even though I have used Quaker State exclusively for 40 years. I have had many mechanics recommend Valvoline to me.
