You could have a high resistance in the trailer plug and cleaning the plug might fix it.

thanks squid, i'm going to take the truck and trailer in to the shop i bought the prodigy at and see what they can find, i ended up having to haul the cattle saturday morning, 500 mile round trip with little over 16000 pounds of cattle and between being smart with stopping and the exhaust brake, didn't have much of a problem. Besides having a tire go flat, luckily i threw the 12 ton jack in the truck before i left, heck even was getting 13.3 mph.

Finally got around to looking at the truck this weekend. Found that the wire for the electical brakes runs from my 7 pin along the frame into the engine compartment and there it is coiled up and zip tied behind the battery. Just had to run it through the gromet for the shift cable and tie it into the harness for the prodigy.
