depends on the hitch setup you go with. On my truck I installed the reese kit with rails and it's rated at 4500 tongue with an 18,000# trailer weight.

My suggestion would be to load up the truck with fuel and the number of people to be staying in the 5er and head to the scales, get weighted and go from there. That is the best thing you can ever do. Your 5er hitch can vary from 100 to 550 lbs, so that needs to be factored in manually.

Hope that helps.

Cheers.

I put a 20K Reese in mine and pull an 18,5 K fifth wheel with no problems. I have a short box but my trl is curved on the front so I have no clearance problems. I considered a slider hitch but they are pricey. My rails in the bed are bolted in side to side. I saw one the other day that although not a slider, the fifth wheel hitch could be unpinned and moved back a foot or so. That could be handy and a real tight uneven keel place but I try to stay away from that kind of stuff.

Default Dually

I forgot to say on my 09 6.7 Mega, I have duallies. I went from a single tire rear axle to a dually because packing so much weight in case of a blow out spooked me. The dually setup handles the weight fine and the extra stability is way nice.
