Default Satellite Radio

Would anyone know what's involved with adding Sirius satellite to the factory stereo? I believe the factory head unit will support satellite as it was offered as an option. 2007.5 2500 6.7 4x4

You should already have it. If you bought the truck used, just go to the sat. setting and take down the unit number...Call Sirius and have it activated...If you do not have this, you can add a external unit...Best Buy or someone else like that can help... If yours is not setup, I took the OEM out and put a Kenwood in...So, I have one sitting around

I would be careful spending too much money on Sirius since they are hurting in the financial sector and have been talking about closing shop. since I live in the great North, I don't get reception worth a dam and so my free first year is boogus. Can I please trade it for ??? LOL

My buddies '08 1500 has the same radio and has sat. He accesses the satellite thru the Mode button. When I press the Mode button I only get Aux, no Satellite option. I did buy the truck used and I already have an external unit and Sirius account. But would rather not have all that crap in my truck. Prefer the clean install of the factory unit, especially if it's just a simple plug n play procedure.

Howdy Gunner, I think this is what you're looking for.

If the owner's satellite service was active before the satellite receiver module was replaced the new satellite receiver module will have to be activated. The existing satellite receiver module will have to be deactivated before the replacement satellite receiver module can be activated.

To activate Sirius satellite radio service, call Sirius at their toll-free number. Please have the following information available when activating a system:
  • Electronic Serial Number / Sirius Identification Number (ESN/SID) of the unit to be replaced
  • ESN/SID of the replacement receiver
  • Vehicle Owner's name and address
  • VIN
The ESN/SID number can be obtained through the radio display by following the steps in the satellite radio owners manual.
The vehicle must be outside with the audio system powered on, in the satellite radio mode, to receive the activation signal.

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the glove box.
3. Disconnect the antenna cable and electrical harness connectors.
4. Remove the three mounting fasteners securing the receiver to the bracket.
5. Remove the satellite receiver.

If you need the cable routing for the antenna let me know

I sure don't think its worth it at all. Once my one year expires I won't renew..the songs on the country channel sure aren't what's played on reg FM... I like the new age tho...but the 'queen' says..change the chanel

Ain't it the truth. I was out in the garage awhile back playing Marty Robbins, Johnny Horton and Johnny Cash off the Ipod and a guy who works for me and thinks he's a real cowboy said. "Wow those guys sing pretty good who are they?" I told him this ain't your Daddys Garth Brookes.

Honestly, I only got it for Nascar. I guess that's as good a reason as any.
