Hey guys I've got an 08 2500 4x4 long bed with about 88k miles. In the past few weeks I'm hearing a rattle/vibration behing the glovebox that appears to be coming from the a/c heater box. It is more noticable idling in gear or at low spends accelerating slowly. When I accelerate hard the vibration goes away. I don't seem to hear it at hwy speeds even though it could still be there. I've pulled the glove box and have located a spot on the a/c box with my finger that seems to vibrate when we hear the noise (don't know what's causing the vibration).
Has anyone experienced this or heard of this happening to anyone else? I hate the little noises that are hard to find. Thanks for your help! |

That spot behind the glove box is the problem. i know alot of trucks as well as my own that do this. I have been trying ot stuff things behind mine to get it to stop to no avail yet.

Okay I finally found the rattle and got it stopped. Hopefully this will help someone else.
The vibration came from behind the heater box where the heater core tubes go through a bracket between the heater box and the firewall. I had to pull the dash and remove the heater box. I had to wrap the heater core tubes with rubber so that once they go through these brackets and are tightened down they cannot move. Now it's quiet as a mouse. What a lousey design! Hope this helps |
