Default Can I carry an elephant on my tailgate?

I am an ATVer that uses ramps to get my RV up into the bed of the pickup. I have looked everywhere I can imagine to try to find how much weight I can put on the tailgate before the tailgate, mounting hardware, and cable go kaboom. Anyway know how to find out before I have to find out the hardway?

I have a Yamaha Grizzly 660 which I believe is around 600 #. I don't worry badly aboutmine but I have a neighbor that has a Polaris Razor 800 that is I believe around 1100.

shouldn't have a problem with the yamaha, i had a honda 450 that weighed about that much and with my fat ass on it too probably around 800-900 and had no trouble loading it into my 1500 Ram. if you have a 3/4 ton you should be able to handle the polaris as well.

My concern is the steel cables and attachment of the tailgate and the bed hookups. What is the rating of the cables etc.?

No Problem. I have the same ATV and have driven it up ramps hooked to gate and hauled with rear axle on tailgate.

I damage tailgates by forgetting to leave tailgate down when unhooking gooseneck trailer and pulling away from trailer.
