hello everyone.
I have heard alot of good things about bully dog's new triple dog product, but, I am confused as to what the difference is between a programmer and a downloader. if anyone has had any experience with bully dogs products I am intrigued to find out more. also, I would like to know the main differences between the power pup and the triple dog downloaders. thanks |

Hello Mega,
Just PM'd you with a couple of links that should clear things up for you. |

Programmers like the Bully Dog Triple Dog GT stay plugged into your trucks ODBII for "on the fly" programming. Downloaders connect thru ODBII temporarily just to "download" a program into the ECM/TCM. I have the Bully Dog Triple Dog GT, but I cannot tell you how well its tunes work because I only use it for gauges. Any program you download into your ECM/TCM will void your factory powertrain warranty and any programmer or downloader that make changes to your ECM/TCM will leave a footprint and will be found.

The Edge is the only one that doesn't leave a footprint.

There have been some heated discussions on other forums about "foot prints" and let me say it here like I have elsewhere, they all leave a foot print of one type or another. Edge is much better because it intercepts the singles before hitting the ECU and provides alternate data, it takes lots of data and analysis time to find its actions. Smarty finally has posted that on the 6.7, they are detectable. You put a something on your engine to alter it, by the logs alone, we can find that something was done and it was outside the operational design parameters of the ECU / Engine. You can not gain more power with changing something, those changes will show up. They are not blinding obvious, it does take a some effort, but a non-factory change can be found.
Just be careful and conservative on your settings.

I was reminded by a colleague on another forum, even SIMS are detectable. Forgot to mention that for above. Some may ask how, easy .... If you remove the DPF and SIM it, the ECU logs will show no regen for since xxx, at that point, they know something is a miss.
Hope that helps.
