the cummins parts book lists it as :cover breather,crankcase.. on my engine it is option BR9284, you can call the nearest cummins parts guy and give him your engine serial number and CPL number and they can tell you everything about your engine and what it came with when built. (most engines will have a white decal with black lettering with the engine serial number and CPL number on it.... it is located on the top of the valve cover at the back of the engine, to find it look at the center of the fire wall of the truck, then look down on top of valve cover near the fire wall to see it) once you have those numbers you can even go online to cummins quickserve and find things specificaly for your engine. a local dodge dealer will be able to get one in their parts system as well, hope this helps with your search some.

wow I just re-read your post and I thought you were refering to the ccv cover, now I see it as the plastic engine cover that goes on top of every thing.... I work a 12 hr shift at work and must have been so tired I didn't read it correct.....I will look and see what I can find on it.

well they call it a heat shield, and on my engine it is option # sh9019-06, the exploded view shows the cap screws and the bracket in the front to hold it to the valve cover, I dont know what parts you are missing ,but you may just need the screws and heat shield, your bracket may still be on the front of the valve cover? the engine sn and cpl will work wonders at cummins for parts as they keep records of every thing that went on your engine and i mean every thing from gaskets, crank and pistons, turbo,to the fuel injectors, starter, including all out side brackets and hoses, on and on... they even have the calibration software info as what injectors, tubo set up and engine control module, and ecm code...all the way down to the oil and fuel filter they put on it. so to me going to cummins for parts is better than dodge as their parts system is a little more dedicated. (I am lucky enough to have a cummins place near by though :cummins mid-south) again hope it helps..

Thanks for the info. I will try to find it with the info. you gave. I think it's just a "vanity" type cover. I'm sure it's no big deal, but I like all the parts on my truck. Thanks again.

Yeh I think so as well, even though they call it a heat shield , it looks like it may keep your hands off of the hot egr stuff but it looks more cosmetic to me, and I too hate things missing, although parts like that I some times take off and keep on a shelf if it holds in heat or makes servicing a pain, I have not had mine off yet we will see how it looks when its off.. the dodge part number is 68027072AA glad to help.
