Default Fuel filter help

I just bought a fuel filter for my 08 3500 w/6.7. The Mopar part # is 1-68061634AA and this filter does even fit in the canister. I go to a local auto parts store and ask for a filter for my truck and he hands me the same one. WTF!!! So i guess that there is another filter for my truck. Has anyone had a problem like this?? Is there another part # for my truck. Thanks for any help with this. Craig

It sounds like you have the old style fuel filter and a new insert. I'll see if I do this right. Go to this link and find the fuel filters. I'm guessing you have a new filter and an old canister. The Pictures from Geno's should let you know. Let us know what the verdict is. Hope this helps.

Yes, that's what it is. Should i just buy the right filter or should i buy the newer filter/canister? It seems like the old style filter is harder to find. Thanks again.

I would order the new canister and filter. You have a refill. I don't believe they make the original anymore. The "new" one also filter to 5 microns, as opposed to 7. I think all were retrofitted late 08 early 09. and they fit all the way back to the 07.5. I think they were going to sell out all the original style then go the one you have. I have found the new style is much easier to take on and off as well as drain. I haven't had the original style you have since about 20,000 miles. I hope someone had a boatload of them and just used them up and didn't leave it on all that time.
Glad that was an easy fix! But if it makes you feel any better I did the same thing. I thought I had the new style one on so i bought a set from Geno's and mine didn't fit so I had to go and buy the canister and filter also.
