Default First Cummins

Hello all. As a first time owner of a 2008 Cummins 6.7 I have a couple of questions. My previous truck was a 6.0l powerstroke and I knew what all the parts were. The one thing I can't figure out is what the valve at the end of the egr cooler with the little cables on it does, because the egr valve is on the opposite side of the engine. Also is it typical for the 3 to 4 shift on the 68RFE to just sort of roll into gear instead of being firm like the rest of the shifts. Thanks.

I have an 07.5 with the 6.7 and it is my first diesel truck. I find that the shifts for 1 - 3 are fairly firm, but 4-6 are fairly smooth and almost unnoticeable if you arent paying attention to them.

I love it though!!!

That's the way mine is too. By the way, it's great to have you as a member and I'm going to have to go look at my engine to see what you're asking about.

Thanks Squid. I am just curious what it does. Also does the Edge leave any traces if you remove it. The truck has 98000 miles on it and I have a 2 year unlimited mile powertrain warranty and don't want to get it voided, but need some fuel mileage help. I get from 13.5 to 14.1.
