You need gauges or a programmer like Squid has. I have a combo gauge that gives me egt and boost. You can tell by the egt (exhaust gas temp.) when the truck goes into regen...Squid's unit has a alarm. He'll have to give you the info.

Not having the overhead show when Regeneration is happening is in my opinion a serious flaw that Dodge/Cummins should think about changing. How I knew when regeneration was happening before I got the Edge was I would watch the MPG readout and when regeneration happened the MPG would fall rapidly and then when it started rising again I knew it was complete. (I verified this with the EDGE)

No problem. When I got home I waited about 30 minutes for the exhaust to cool down a tad and with a wrench and a cheater bar they came right off. ( the DPF and NOx were still very hot so be careful)
To get the connectors apart you have to pull out a yellow keeper and then when you put the connectors back together you have to reinsert that yellow keeper so don't loose them.

By the overhead it looks like cleaning them has given me an extra .5MPG. I'll have to wait to fill her up tomorrow to know the real number.

you figure since my truck sat at the dealership till Feb 08 that the G30 was already done to the truck? Either way when I reach about 10,000 I'm gonna pull my stuff off and clean it.

Thank you now that I know I'm not missing to much. I was looking at a digital read out. I guess I should make sure that it has all the temps that will help before I buy. One day maybe I can get the Edge or something comparable. Right now I got my O2 sensor fix at the dealer now I'm going to put my CAI back in.

Another thing to consider is the temp. of the turbo when regen is cycling. Takes longer to cool down at idle and without some sort of gauge, it's hit and miss on cool down times. IMHO

Cool O2 sensors and the world of Bluetech.

Hello again. I had my truck in for a P2000 code about 3 weeks ago and the tech replaced the DPF, cleaned the O2 sensors and did a forced re-gen. I follow all the recommendations for idle up, don't lug the engine, etc... I just got back from a trip to Dallas (950 miles round trip) last Sunday and had a P2000 again on Wednesday. The local tech tells me they are working on shielded O2 sensors but they aren't out yet and they don't know at this point whether they are going to solve any problems. My tech also advised me not to clean my own sensors not that I am not capable (I was a diesel mechanic in a past life) but if we don't let the manufacturer know there is a problem and keep working around it, they will never come up with a fix. I know it is a pain to take a truck in every time there is something wrong with it but if things aren't documented and if they aren't hit in the pocket book they won't do anything about the problems we are having. I am not talking about bogus claims that waste time and money but we all paid a premium for a system that isn't working properly and needs to be made right. We are also paying for a 25% decrease in fuel economy as a result. Some of you are new to the Dodge Ram Cummins game and it has been great in the past. My last truck got a consistent 20 mpg combined hand calculated making sales calls around town and up to 27 on the highway at 55 mph with nearly 24 mpg at 70 mph being the norm. You may be content with 15 mpg average and a best of 19 on a trip but I just want newbies to know it used to be much better before the 6.7 and Bluetech. I am glad my truck doesn't spew soot and I know we need to be aware of polution and how it is poisoning the environment but if the EPA mandates a diesel engine should suck bad air up the exhaust and filter it spewing nothing but clean air out the intake and cost the consumer an extra $1000 a month in maintenance costs are the manufacturers just supposed to jump on the bandwagon, nod their heads and get to it??? At this point we are looking at vehicles that may not be practical to own once the warranty is out and may plummet in trade in or resale value as a result of the Bluetech system. I could not afford the turbocharger, DPF, O2 sensors, cleanings, etc. that have been replaced/performed in the 18,000 miles I have owned the truck if I had to pay for them out of my pocket. I owned a GM diesel in the early 80's and when I tried to trade it in due the the rapid growth of my family was told that they didn't want it and wouldn't take it on trade (it was about 2 years old with 35k miles on it) so I was forced to keep it until it died. This finally resulted in a class action suit against GM but the consumer took the real beating for their mistakes. I hope this doesn't happen with Dodge/Cummins but I am not inclined to take a beating like I did in the 80's with GM. I am not down on either Dodge or Cummins and my dealership has done the best they can to keep this truck running but I have had it in for problems an average of once a month since I got it all related to the Bluetech system. Ok enough of my rambling. Sorry if I have wasted your time but had to share that with the rest of the forum. If we just lay down and take it, we will keep getting walked on.
