Default 1999 Dodge Cummins

[QUOTE=Squid;1455]Here's a list of fault codes for the 6.7L engine and probably the 5.9L too. I heard that if you supply Cummins the serial number of your engine they will send you a laminated list of codes so I'll let you know if it's true

1999 Dodge 5.9

How does one pull a code from my engine? There are no blinking lights indicating one might be present but, at high steady speed, there is a surging rpm (+ - 200 rpm) back and forth which is not the tranny downshifting..

Speed sensor???

tks

Did you try the procedure in this thread? How to get your Mil Code from your Dodge Ram If that doesn't work for your 5.9L then I'd just drop into a place like Auto Zone, Pep boys, etc and they will check for codes for free. As for troubleshooting a surging problem it could be anything from bad fuel to a dirty MAF or Oxygen sensor to a dirty air filter, etc and is just a process of elimination.

If I may ask what does P2299 Brake Pedal Pos/ Accel Pedal Position Incompatible mean. Believe it or not I have that code on my truck now. Also I have P0402 EGR Flow Excessive What did you have to clean to clear this code? I know you have it somewhere I just don't know where.
Thanks

I've seen the P0402 code a few times over the last 58,000 miles and I just clear it and forget about it since it's so intermittent (Maybe once a year) P0402-egr flow excessive detected . As for the P2299 that's a new one. P2299-brake pedal position / accelerator pedal position incompatible

No problem, that's why I built this site so all of us 6.7L owners will have an easy to use database about our trucks.

It'll work. The only time you're screwed is if they actually have to replace your ECU.
