Since I installed my Edge juice with Attitude on my 6.7L Cummins one of the things I get told is when the computer runs a DPF regeneration by an audio alarm and a visual Que. Since I drive the same 100 miles or so 6 nights a week I noticed the last two nights that it performs a regeneration twice and pretty much at the same location with the regeneration lasting 7 minutes.
Now what I find interesting about this is that I'd say that 75% of my driving is 60 to 70 MPH, I run the exhaust brake on the highway and since it's after midnight even the in town driving I'm doing 40 MPH and I seldom if ever have to stop for lights. I do make 7 to 10 stops a night to check job sites but I don't leave the truck running which has got me thinking. What about the guy who buys the 6.7L to tow their 5th wheel with only on the weekends every now and then and two weeks a year for vacation and drives it the rest of the time to work and back in town 10 or 15 miles a day? There's no way he'll be on the road long enough to do a full regeneration if I'm doing two a night at 7 minutes each. I know there's suppose to be a warning before the DPF gets clogged but so far no one I've run into has seen it yet. Makes me wonder if there won't be a redesign/recall down the road for the DPF when the weekend warriors get a hold of these trucks? Just an observation and I was wondering what you guys thought? I'll see if this pattern persist and let you know. Per the Manual: Quote:

At least the 80% warning does work because I've never seen a warning on the overhead about a Regen and the Dodge Service manager was just as lost as I about there even being one? I'm still getting at least one Regen every night with the one last night lasting over 14 minutes.
Now I'd like to know how much fuel is used to do this?

Me too. What temps are you running when it goes into Regen? I saw that your pyro is pre turbo.

Squid, you were describing me. I had to change my route because I was in constant regen. I only tow my 5th wheel 2 to 3 times per month. Stop and go driving is a killer on this truck. I now drive about 12 miles one way to my shop with only 2 stop signs along the way. I've found ( for my duty cycle) that the right fuel makes a big difference in #'s of regens. This truck is my daily driver.

Just trying to understand this a little better, the only way you know you're doing a regen is if you've got an aftermarket tuner installed? There's nothing on the EVIC telling you this right? I just got back from a 220 mile trip pulling the 18ft trailer hauling about 8,000lb up and down some mountians, and had my foot into it pretty good, that should have cleaned my DPF out real good.

That's correct. Unless you haven't allowed your truck to regenerate due to a lot of short in town driving trips you'll never know except maybe by the decrease in MPG. This disturbed me to no end. This is a very important process that needs to take place and to not allow us to know when and if it's being done makes no sense. But lordy, lordy, they sure know how to remind you to change your oil.

So a member here said that the Tech at the dealership told him to help reduce the amount of regenerations the exhaust brake should be run 70% of the time on the 6.7L. So I gave it a try and for the last 357 miles if the truck was running the exhaust brake was on and here's my findings.
