Default 6.7L MPG comparison

Hello Everyone,

I would like to start a thread on MPG comparison with some details. So I will go first ...

With my :
  • 6.7L quad cab
  • 6 speed auto
  • stock exhaust
  • banks air intake
  • dually
  • 4x4
  • 4.10 rear end
  • General OEM tires
  • no computer tuning
Usage model:
  • Weekday usage, daily work commute, 6 mile trip.
  • Weekends, at least 600 mile trips, DPF cycle complete.
I am getting:
  • 13.4 MPG overall with EGR connected
  • 16 MPG overall with EGR disconnected
This via hand calculation and not overhead unit.

What are others getting with their setup with 6.7's ?

Cheers,
Roberto

In your calculation, how do you know when regen occurred and not...Are your MPG numbers for complete duty cycles???

Vis,

My calculation is based strictly on amount of fuel pumped vs odometer readings. However I do understand you point so here is also my usage style ...

Usage model:
  • Weekday usage, daily work commute, 6 mile trip.
  • Weekends, at least 600 mile trips, DPF cycle complete.
Cheers,
Roberto

2007, 2500, 4x4, 6.7, 6 speed auto , 3.73 axles
Combined hwy/city = 15.5 to 16.5. I consider that to be pretty good especially since the company truck (2009 F250 Powerlessstroke) only gets 14mpg on the highway at 70.
Don't believe the overhead, at least on my truck it's too optimistic.

Same setup but 3500 long bed 2wd...just about the same combined. On a 350 mile trip unloaded at 70 mph I got around 18 calculated.
Ditto on the overhead

Round trip from Alb, NM to 60 miles west of Denver and back Just cruising with no payload. 19.7 hand calc. (960 miles round trip). Up Monarch pass at 11,300 ft and turned around (we made a wrong turn some where).
3 weeks ago Alb to Alamosa, CO area up with 17K on the king pin, back empty, 13.1 hand calc. (450 miles round trip).
In town commute 15 miles each way 5 times per week plus some running around 350 to 425 weekly I have been averaging 15.7 to 16.9 regularly via the calculator.
No mods. (Not real sure of gear ratio haven't looked) 4X4 SRW 68RFE

I use a gps for mileage and speed as my speedo is off by 2 mph. No tuner just volant intake and megaflow muff. I get 14.5-15 around town when I have to. 16.5 all around type drive hwy & town. Back and forth to work 70 miles round trip 18mpg. So not to bad would like a little more, hoping a tuner might help. Ditto on the overhead I think cause the speedo is off? 3.78 I believe in the rear end, Sometimes coming down the grapevine with eb on i can get 99.9 mpg if I reset the overhead at the right time. LOL And on pulling I have about 13000 on 5er I get 10-11mpg depending on which way the wind is blowing

Default 6.7L MPG comparison

2008 2500 4x4 Quad Cab Inferno Red (stock and always will be)
approx 5000 miles
3:73 rear end, 6 speed auto
combined city/trailering horse trailer/highway= 14.7 mpg
really disappointed so far, but I will give it a chance to get some of this super mileage I have been hearing about (20>22) highway.

I have seen the 'lie-o-meter' display 21+ on a long run, It only takes a short blast with the accelerator pedal to make it go back down to 18 -19 again. I have done random hand calcs to confirm the 'lie-o-meter' and it appears mine is off arund 1.3 to 2.1 mpgs.
I usually reset mine when I fuel the truck, there are time where it will travel 400 to 500 miles before the next fill up, then it gets reset again. But I have not heard of an honest 21+ mpg from the 6.7's. I am not dissapointed with the mileage as a matter of fact I'm impressed with it, the truck will pull what ever you can hook to it and look good doing it. The new PowerJokes are not near as fuel friendly with loads that a Dodge would take in stride. I won't even try to discuss the issues I have personally had with the D-Max.
