Got a 2nd dealer to look at the truck, ther service manager and the diesel mechanic both took the truck for a drive with me in it and both said the brake was not working. After a week of having the truck, they told me the dodge area rep came out and told them it really is working! They are trying to convince me that the 2007 3500 was the only year that the exhaust brake had a really light application and most people can't hear or feel it! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT! I've driven it for 4 years with it working and knew it was working. Now nothing!

Having the same problem. Has work done at a dealer and now the engine brake is not working. Brought it back and the shrugged--didnt have a clue.
On that note the reason I brought it in was the truck went "dead" on the road.
They said it was it was the TIPM (replaced) then the PCM (replaced) and pin 35 corroded in TIPM which caused the whole matter and $2700 later.
I was hosed!!

UPDATE... Rode with the Dodge regional rep today with a 3 ton load and it did exactly what it had been doing... NOTHING, no exhaust brake. The rep is trying to convince me that this is normal for only the 2007 model year and that you can't feel or hear it. It is a very light application. Anyone have a 2007 that can confirm this. I used to feel and hear mine working until they changed the turbo and computer and I don't. Told me there is nothing Dodge will do! Goodbye Dodge!

Mine works great! Feels like you are stepping on the brake. It does make noise too. When in cruise and going down a hill you can feel it work to keep you speed constant. Had an experience like that with my 96 Gasser, pretty much said it would cost me $25,000 to get out of the truck after the 3 years a messing with it, kept the truck and fixed it myself for $50.00, Dodge spent $29,000 in 3 years trying. Sorry to hear of your luck. BTW New Mexico does not have a Lemon law that protects the consumer in these cases.

Same problem since dealer worked on computers in truck. I hope it is only a matter of re-programing something. Also my high idle is now not working.
Going to a private garage friday who works on all diesel pickups. They have a good rep.
Really need my engine brake as I haul RVs to dealers all over the country
Oh, its a 2007 1/2 with 6.7 Cummins 360,000 miles

Just wanted to say private garage who works on all diesel pickups got my engine brake
working. It appears the "dealer" who wanted to blame anybody they could shut the engine brake off as well as high idle so had to be re-entered in the system.
I cant believe how many dealers have totally untrained mechanics calling themselves
diesel experts. In most cases I would never believe a dealers explanation of what may be wrong with your truck

Default xbrake not working

Mine quit and found fault code P2262
Took to dealer,VGT was not working.
Long story short, Got an new updated turbo, new updated EGR and cooler. Got a update in tranny,Tires no longer chirp on downshift, also found front drivshaft seal leaking. Exhaust gaskets not under bolts.?????????
Reason for smoke in cab. Bought the trk used from a big dealer in Fla. We will be having a talk about the gaskets real soon.
Also found turbo had been removed prior to my buying the trk.?????
Mech seemed to think turbo had been removed in ths past. Bolts were not installed as per factory installation. Lots of questions for dealer to answer.
Almost lost warranty.
Also had 2010 tires and wheels on trk when I bought it. I think former owner had oversize tires on it, That is how I wound up with 2010 wheels and a set of Michelins. He kept his old wheels and tires.
Trk is 07.5////////2500.

I had the same problem when my ECM was replaced - brought it back in and the advisor apologized for it not being programmed in.

he told me that most people don't use them so they don't reprogram them back when work is done

Wow, what a nightmare for all ! I miss the days of very simple wiring and no computers. You could nearly overhaul a engine on the side of the road and still be home in time for dinner
