'65 VW Bug. I wanted a Boss 302 but couldn't afford the insurance, gas and car loan. Drove the VW like it was a Boss - result 4 engines in a year. I could replace a VW engine in under half an hour.

My first car was a 1965 Plymouth Belvedere 4DR sedan with a 318. It shared two things with a tank -- the ride and the gas mileage.

My dad had a Belvedere station wagon, with the 225 slant six and 3 on the tree, in high performance tan paint. We used to call it the hearse....... Before he got his own ride, my younger brother had to use it on dates. Boy was he embarrassed! It was great!

first car(s) I got a 73 camaro for my first car ,from my dad, it was a 6cyl and manual 3spd on the floor, it needed a clutch , battery ,tune up and tires to get it driveable, (he thought it would take me a while to fix and insure it so I would not be driving right away ...but it was all done in a few weeks,) at the same time as the camaro my grand-pa (who helped buy the parts for the camaro ) gave me a 73 dodge truck 6cyl and manual 3spd on the tree, and scince then I have almost always had a car and a truck....

1st vehicle for driving on roads not counting on farm use was a Datsun pickup with a 1300 motor. Dam thing was so small I could hit all 3 pedals with one foot Then drove my grandfathers olds 88 (68?)with the "rocket V8" It would actually break the rear tires loose when hitting 2nd with the auto tranny.

1st new car was a 78 Trans Am. Top speed was 147mph. paid $7500 tax and License included. Wish I kept it.

My first was a 1956 volkswagen bug with the biggest sunroof imaginable. Bought it for $200 drove for 6 months sold it for $600. I am sure it would be a great car to own today. Had the turn signals arms that came out of the D pillar.

My fist car was a 71 Chevy Impala, 4dr Hard Top, with a 350 and 2 Barrell carb....Power steering, power breaks, Manual windows and door locks.

Loved that car, wish I still had it.
