Default Geno's

Anyone placing online orders with Geno's needs to be REALLY careful. Something is wrong with their site and credit card numbers are going through the internet in clear text, no encryption ! You will know this because the URL does not change from HTTP to HTTPS and your browser will not show a lock symbol anywhere. Yet their page advertises them as a secure trusted site ......

Having worked on internet services since before it was called an "internet" and still working on it, this stuff is always in my face and notice this very easily.

I dropped them note and offered to help them fix it. They provide a great service to Dodge users so I do not want to see them go away over simple little thing because they sued out of business.

Be careful and may suggest calling in your orders till its fixed.

Cheers.

Good catch and thanks for the info. We all need to be aware of the little lock and https code to ensure we are well protected against thieves.

Damn, my card has now been stolen and they are having a good time with it .... Since Geno's issue, we have not used to wait and see .... good thing we did.

I think it will be a while before I purchase from them again ....

Cheers.

Must have gotten hacked. So you lost your card using Geno's?

Yup ... we are real careful where we use our cards and track it's usage. What happened at Geno's when placing the order set the flag and figured within 5 days of seeing we should see something. We did, and the bank security caught.

I talked to Geno's and they claim it can not be, but they contract their services out and the up stream provider claims all is well on their side. Fact, no certificate and/or lock symbol and card stolen. The bank will be investigating their service handler. The cards ran through with all the info needed to authorize which means if came from a commerce site.

Good news, we are covered and caught it really fast. Just a slight hassle.

Lesson learned, if you do not see a URL of https or a lock symbol on your browser, trust your first reaction and cancel out before entering your CC info.

Cheers and be safe !

Thanks, and I'm glad it worked out. This is why I told the Queen to never ever use a Debit card online.
