Default Yet another Newb

What's Happening?!

I have graduated into the big leagues!!

I have for the past few years owned a 2003 Ram 1500 QC with the underpowered, gas guzzling, 5.9L V8 engine.

Well I thought I had all the truck I needed. I wouldnt haul much when I first got it, just my father in laws 18ft Bass Boat to go fishing from time to time, but other than that, I never really hauled any REAL weight.

Until this past April. We have two horses, and they are a sinch to haul in their trailer. I guess that can be considered real weight, but between the two of them, they do not weigh more than 3,000lbs.

Anyway, the wife and I decided that it would be a good diea to stock up on some round bails of hay. Typical round bail is 4-5ft wide, 5-6ft tall, weighing anywhere from 1200-1500 per roll.
Well we loaded the trailer with 3 very nice sized round bails on the trailer and put one heafty b**ch in the bed. I figured, this truck can handle it, this is what that big 5.9L was meant to do......Well It hauled it, but man did that pig struggle to hole 60mph going up hill on the freeway!!

Long story short, had to get rid of it, just didnt do what was needed.

Went to a local car lot, and looked, and found my 2500. 2007.5, 68K on the odometer. Did a good look over, did see any leaks, signs of abuse so I said, wrap it up, I'll take it!!

So now we haul the horses around and it doesnt even feel like the trailer is back there. Father in laws Boat is so easy to haul that I forget it is back there, and NOT TO MENTION I had to pull my father in laws Jeep out of a pond, and didnt even have to try!!

I am loving this truck!!

Only Mods that I have planned right now are the following:
Banks Cold Air Intake with Super Scoop
Banks 4in Stainless Exhaust with 5in tip
Edge Attitude With CTS Programmer
Larger Inter-cooler, just not sure which brand to buy, I may just go ALL Banks seeing as they have been doing this longer then most other companies out there. Who know.

Enjoy the pics!!

Heavy D!

Thanks, I really didnt have much choice of color....LOL
It is funny, 2500's are or have to be the HARDEST truck to find used!!

I see ford F250's all day long, guess they just suck LOL

But Since my 1500 was really mechanically a great truck, I couldnt stray from Dodge, not include I just like Dodge more then Ford truck wise and Chevy over everything for sport cars.

I just got lucky with this truck really. They took the truck in at the dealership late evening the day prior to me stopping in. they had it in the holding area to be serviced and cleaned up when the salesman showed it to me.

thought abou tits over night, and said GOTTA do it!! best choice I have made since knocking the wife up last year!! LOL Now I have a new truck AND a new kid, what an awesome package deal!!

But I am loving the truck, and it does it's job without hesitation! Also not to mention it get's better fuel mileage then my 1500!!

Welcome and congrats! I hear ya about the MPG. People get on here and gripe about the milage but mine gets the same as our 04 Titan with the 5.6L and not nearly as roomy or fun.

I hear ya on the space. Although I think my 03 1500 had a bit more space then my 2500, but then again, I dont care, cant pull 10K worth of weight in the old 1500 without it moaning..LOL

Just ordered my Cold Air Intake a couple of days ago. Wont be going in until I get home on vacation in September.

I will be sure to post up pic before, during and after the installation. I may just bite the bullet and order up the exhaust for it too...hmmm....
