Changed my oil for the first time at 6,000 miles. The warning indicator never came on. Now at 9,300 the warning has displayed. Two questions first what determines when the oil change lites, What can I do to disable?

They say it's duty cycle and how you drive your truck but I'm not buying it because it has a mind of it's own so I had my dealership shut mine off.

To clear the warning, turn the key to on, push the gas pedal to the floor 3 times and then shut the key off.

Thanks!!! My duty cycles include always towing a 9,000lb trailer and most often traveling over the High Sierra passes. It's amazing to think that this signaling system didn't come on until 9,300 miles.

I ignore the message, cancel it and change oil and filter every 10,000 kms. This is one of those totally unnecessary things that to me is a real piss off! It's right up there with the Tire Pressure Monitor.
