Default New Here...Some Performance Questions

Hi all. I just bought a new 2008 Ram 3500 dually with 6.7. I am looking to do some mods. I just installed a K&N drop in filter and have ordered a muffler delete pipe. This thing sounds like a sewing machine. Nothing like my '01 dually I had a few years ago. Anyway, I was wondering if I can remove the plate inside the air intake tube going from the filter to the turbo to eliminate any restriction. Thanks for any help.

First off, welcome to the site!
I know what you mean about how quiet the 6.7L is when new but don't worry about how the truck sounds right now because by the time you hit 40,000 miles she'll sound like a real diesel should even with the stock exhaust. As for the intake, lots of people have taken out the baffel including one of our members Cumminz who has a great write up and pictures at his web site. 2007 RAM 3500 6.7L Cummins Diesel engine mods Which exhaust did you buy?

I just ordered a muffler delete pipe from Geno's garage. Today I gutted the intake hose to the turbo. That helped for sure. I also ordered a cold air intake hose from PSM. Was thinking about unpluging the EGR, but I do not have a programer to clear any codes that may pop up. The oil does not look very good for having only 700 miles on it. The next thing will be a programer, just not to sure on what one to get. Or do I wait for the newer ones to come out that will clear all codes.

I don't know about other programmers but my Edge with attitude both reads the codes and also clears the codes both manually and also can be set to clear at startup for people who like to gut the antipollution stuff.
