Default New to the forum

Hi

My name is Dave and I live on Vancouver Island British Columbia.

I am new to the forum and new to Cummins diesels. I have a 2007 Dodge 3500, pickup that I bought new in 2009. Managed to get a great deal on the truck when the recession was at it's height.

I use the truck to tow a 30' fifth wheel and drive around town. What I am looking for is advice on how to get better mileage. What products are best and what is the best way to go about boosting mileage.

I have access to a full shop, so can do the work myself.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Cheers
Dave

To Boost Mileage you'll need to remove all the anti pollution stuff like the EGR and DPF. As for what we're using and where we get it just do a search for what you're interested in and if you don't find it just ask. Right now I'm replacing the front Hub Bearings and U Joints.

Welcome!

What about changing the air cleaner and exhaust system?

I think I got 1 MPG from the Volant CAI and I think others have just gutted the box and got the same. As for the Exhaust, the DPF is the biggest killer when it comes to your mileage because when it cleans itself (Regenerates) it dumps diesel into the exhaust system to produce heat.

I know this thread is kinda old, but does your Edge help out in mpg? I have my EGR unplugged (getting 13mpg in city which is a 3mpg gain). So if I got something like the Juice with Attitude CS or Smarty and not do a DPF delete, how much more of a fuel gain (of course this is just a guesstimate) do you think you could gain in the city?
