Hello Gentleman,
Brought a new-to-me 2007.5 2500 quad cab 6.7 Cummins bright silver, this baby had 32,000 miles and when I test drove it the MAL light came on Not knowing what was wrong and not really knowing to much about Diesel engines, I insisted it be fixed before I would entertain the idea of buying the Truck. Now mind you this was from a Ford dealer, who then had to take it to a dodge dealer to get it fixed (checked) it was returned about an hour latter with the light off. i purchased the truck and not feeling quite sure that I made the right decision, I started doing some research and found this site. after reading a lot of the problems that people were having, I ran a VIN check on the Dodge website and discovered that there was a recall for mine Still " the Dreaded G30" so I immediately took it in to my dodge dealer and had them apply the fix and also do an oil change. They stated that they flashed it with the latest revision and gave a 2008 manual and DVD to watch regarding the 6.7 Cummins. Its a pretty good video. anyways I guess my question is, if the ford Dealership I bought the truck from really took it to a dodge dealership wouldn't they have applied the fix? and how would they have gotten the check engine light to go off if they didn't apply the Fix? anyways I have put 1000 miles on it since then and have had a problem yet.Love the truck so far Oh by the way squid, when you changed the gas filter was there a lot of gas split Thanks and great site! Welcome!
Since the truck hadn't had the G30 done for 30,000 miles don't be surprised if you get some other codes down the road, but never fear, they won't be anything we haven't seen before so relax and enjoy your new truck. When and if you do get a check engine light here's the link to how to pull them. How to get your Mil Code from your Dodge Ram The cool thing about this is if it's nothing you can just drop by Autozone and they'll clear it for free without having to make an appointment with your Service Department. As for lost diesel when changing the filter I'd say 3 or 4 cups is all. But it it is messy so extend the drain tube and put a large pan under the filter when changing it.
