hey everyone! this is a great site! I just purchased my first diesel, a 2008 Dodge RAM 3500 Mega Cab 4x4 with the 6.7, SLT. It is so amazing! I had a 2002 Toyota Tundra with a 4.7 V8 before this, and I put alot of work into it with not too much gain.. I went to college for auto tech, and know my way around cars pretty well, but diesels not as well as gas... for now..
I work in Farmington, NM for the SJRMC Paramedics. I just put a K&N stock replacement filter in my truck, as well as a few interior goodies like tinted windows and husky liner floor mats to help protect. I'm looking into a programmer that I can view my stats (i.e boost, trans temp, etc), and can help my MPG! dont need too much more power yet... Any suggestions on an affordable programmer? like under $600, and do they void the warranty?? Thanks! Mike |

Welcome! Programmers all depend on the dealership and what happens to your truck. Some of them leave a footprint that the dealership can see and others don't. I put the Edge Juice with Attitude on my truck which doesn't leave a footprint and I have to be honest, if I was to do it again I wouldn't waste the $$. The truck has so much gitty up and power that just a way to read boost, regeneration, transmission temp, etc like the Edge insight would be all I'd buy. I might even sell my Edge Juice here before long since I'm going to be buying a new truck this winter.

I have been reading about the Insight, I really like it, I read some contradicting information between the Edge site and Jegs.com, Jegs states that it has three program modes, one for fuel econ, one for tow, one for perform, and the Edge site states that the Insight alone does not reprogram or modify the vehicle performance in any way... can anyone answer that for me? I have much more faith in the manufacturer site rather than a sales site..

The Insight is just a gauge no presets to change performance, it just allows you to read important info. Make sure you get the EGT sensor if you get the Insight or any gauge. Squid did a great writeup on how to install it.
