Default New to Diesel..

I recently purchased a couple of firsts... My first Diesel and My first dodge. it is a 2007 Mega cab 4wd with the 6.7 L had a couple of questions.

1: after purchasing the truck (made the deal in the dark) I noticed it had Dual stacks on it at one time. but, now it is in stock form. should I be concerned with any ill affects of the stacks?

2: The milage I get out of this thing is not really what I expected it gets an average of 13MPG empty and around 8mpg pulling about 8-9K.

3: has anyone had expierience with the H+S XRT programmer. I have seen a couple threads in the "aftermarket" section but havent seen many replies.

Truck has 68k mi and is mainly used for a daily driver.
Thanks for any input guys...

Bitmore Performance,
I too posted a similar question on this forum Dec.1st and have yet to get any feedback. I personally would like to email or call someone who has installed the H&S sytem-tuner and dpf delete to get the straight scoop.
I have spoke with a dodge mechanic who worked on a customer's truck with the system and he was told the fuel mileage was 23 mpg!
Also I called H&S in Utah and spoke with their technical dept. and got some recommendations but until I can get some more data I guess I will just pray that a 4th. turbocharger is not in my trucks future due to soot accumulation damaging all components relating to EMISSIONS!

Well guys, I have an 08 2500 quad cab and took off all my emissions crap. I have a 4inch turbo back exhaust with a free flow muffler. Took the cat, NOx filter, DPF and stock muffler off! I then took off the EGR and EGR valve. The whole delete. Now I do not use the H&S tuner, I am using the Smarty jr programmer. The truck runs like a champ!! With the different tunes I can program into it I get great power and very responsive throttle. I have a 75 to 80 mile commute an I am getting between 23 and 24mpg! I'm not sure what's going with your truck to give you 13mpg. You can surely do better. The guy on here called squid can help too, he is very knowledgeable. An others questions plz ask, I'll do my best to answer.

After reading a few threads on here i have come to realize this is an "Emissions Control" friendly site. Which I take no issue with. I love how quiet the exhaust is. But, I am concerned with all the Emissions problems I have read about. so am considering removal of the system. I simply cannot afford to replace turbos and chase codes every few thousand miles.

With that said, I am really interested in obtaining the extra milage i keep hearing about. 23mpg sounds AWESOME, but would settle with 18... thanks for the replies.

Bitmore performance,
I have to tell you I am a die hard cummins fan/believer the engines reputation precedes itself. When I heard they would make a new 6.7 I was stoke. I thought how in the he k can you improve on the bomb prof 5.9?? Well they did...UNTIL big brother government and the EPA stepped in and said all diesels made from here on out now have to go green. Well that just set the 6.7 up for failure. I you can get rid of all the emissions crap on your 6.7 you will have a damn fine engine that run a long time.

One other thing, I'm not sure where you live, but I live in the great united socialist republic state of California! Where if your not a tree hugger, liberal, or on welfare we don't want you. Most counties in this state require smog checks to register your vehicle, bu there are a few counties here that don't and are exempt! Hehe see where I'm going with this? Let's just say I have some family that owns a house in one of those counties and my truck is "parked" in there driveway when not in use. But if you don't have that option SAVE SAVE SAVE ALL of your smog stuff that you pull off the truck. If for whatever reason you need it you be glad you held on to it.
Plus I believe you said there is no warranty on your truck right? Yeah go for it my friend let your truck loose and run like it was built to run, don't hold it back. You'll be happy you did it!
O and one other thing I also pull about a 10,000lbs 5th wheel to and I average about 13 to 14mpg!!!
Good luck with everything
