Default New to Cummins not to Dodge

Hey gang great site. Very helpful so far! Just bought a New '08 2500 HD(Dealership in Bonham had some leftover) and I can't say enough good things about it. Its my dream truck. Learning all the ropes with this Diesel but lovin the drive. I traded in an 01 1500 with 293,000 miles on the 318 so I'm expecting a lot from this one as well. It had all the updates done when I bought it but I have never seen anything about a regeneration! Will the over head tell me? Just curious! Thanks for a wealth of information!

Howdy mcclendon5. Your first post has made me a very happy fella because you're the person I had in mind when I created this site.

Unfortunately, the only time the overhead will tell you anything about regeneration is when your Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is 80% full or more. The only other way you can tell is by an aftermarket gauge like the Edge Insight Edge Products: Product or an Exhaust Gas Temperature Gauge.

A Big Welcome mcclendon5...Great site, Squid has worked his tentacles off on this site. Get yourself a set of gauges, you'll understand more about how to drive this truck

Thanks for the info Guys! Where did you put the actual guage in the truck. The install instructions "look" easy. That little gadget seems to tell ya a lot!

I have the Insight; it has worked great for me. I bought the dash holder that goes on the left side of the dash. It matched my dash color and contoured to the dash very well. I don’t push the Insight all the way into the holder so when I want to hook it up to my computer it comes out easy.
