Hey guys
I am definetly new at the forum thing and the 6.7 liter cummins. I bought my truck and as I checked it out more and more. I found +'s and -'s. The person I bought it from cut out the DPF filter and everything with it and put in a straight pipe. I am told if the computer is not modified by a programer then the truck will not run right so I am guessing it got programed as well. I am getting around 19 mpg on the highway. Is that normal??? I took the truck to a mechanic that I know and he hooked it up to a computer. He said that there is definetly a mod. on the truck because the turbo is boosting 14lbs. at idle. Will I run into any problems with this. I haven't had one problem with the truck except the dadgum information screen, above the rear view mirror says, "See Dealer Now, Service Required". That was before I took it to the mechanic. He said there was nothing wrong with the truck at all. Any thoughts???? |

Is there any difference between the factory diameter exhaust pipe and a 5 in exhaust pipe. both straight piped from the turbo back. Besides the factory pipe has the little pre catylst on the down pipe. Let me know the pros and cons. Thanks.

5 inch from dpf back, there is a very minimal to no gain. When doing a very heavy pull, there is a little gain since the exhaust does flow better since less bends, EGT drop a little bit.
5 inch from turbo back, lots of gain, very free flow and lots of noise. To do a turbo back exhaust on a 2007.5 and above requires a proper delete kit to work right. If not, when regen happens, there is a ton of smoke that will pour out your exhaust ! 2007.5 and up none C&C version have 1 cat near the turbo (rather small one), 1 cat and 1 DPF next to each other and 1 muffler. The muffler is straight thru and no restrictions unless badly made (made case). DPF can be very restrictive, cats have to flow enough to all the soot to pass so they are not really that big of an issue. Cheers.
