Hello, I found your site yesterday when looking for info on changing the fuel filter. Removing the fender liner was a lot easier. Took me a little longer than Squid’s 15 min though.
I appreciate this site and the information. I bought a 2007 6.7L 2500 4x4 with 6,000 miles on it in April 2008. At 7500 I got the CEL for the turbo. After the 4th trip to the dealer I found out they were dishonest. I took a road trip and had the CEL come on again in Phoenix, the dealer there told me that the cleaning process where they tap a hole into the turbo had not been done although the first dealer had claimed to have done it. The Phoenix dealer did the cleaning, but the CEL came back on again on my way home to Seattle. I found a new dealer in Seattle and had to start over with them, on the third trip for the CEL they finally replaced the turbo at 12,000 miles. I just turned 29000, and so far so good. The technicians and others knowledgeable I have talked to say the problem is the trucks don’t get used hard enough. I guess I wouldn’t have bought it if the salesman would have told me I had to pull a trailer over mountain passes all the time, as I need to use my vehicle to commute. So on the advice of a couple of the service techs I use the exhaust brake most of the time. In addition when I am driving in the city I use a gear (auto transmission) that keeps the RPM range between 1400 and 1800. I don’t know if this has kept the turbo from having problems since the dealer has done several flashes too, but It makes sense to me that it would help. |

Welcome, exercise the vanes with a few wide open throttles from time to time. I try to keep my RPM's around 2000

Welcome to the site! Long runs at hiway speeds works pretty well too, keep the rpm's up and load it regularly and you both will be happy. After all it is a TRUCK.
